mo cores compared to hammers cores
« on: June 03, 2007, 06:47:52 AM »
I've been looking for balls that match up to my game. Out of the 7 the no mercy is my favorite. It simply get the job done. What I was wondering was is this because of the core in the ball being strong? I read a bunch about mo having balls with strong cores and I was thinking is mo the company for me if in fact I really need a strong core to be effective. My a/r isn't drilled because i'm debating whether or not completely switching to 14lbs and it's a 15. I Hear a lot about being speed dominant with guys that use mo ball's and I would say i'm a speed dominant guy but i might not fully understand what it means. I have good speed I'd say good revs but i have no way to judge. and i'm a med tracker. I don't know my pap but you may or may not be able to figure out in the photos i have. Hammer makes great equipment  but is morich my calling?

That is hard for anyone but you to answer. Buy a ball From MoRich the ball closet tot he No Mercy would be Awesome Revs  or Seek and Destroy.

The charm of the No Mercy is that you can drill it label leverage and get a strong ball reaction. Period. It is a bit of a dummy system, but it works and yields what most players want: cover lots of boards.

Mo's cores are more sophisticated, and I'd urge you to check out an experienced ball driller who knows your game AND how to set up strong mass bias balls. You need some expertise to set such a ball up, and exploit its great potential. That does not mean that these are worse than the HART core, but success is more closely related to a proper setup, and I think you will have more drilling and reaction options with a MoRich core than with the No Mercy?

I'm thinking it would be an Awesome FInish sanded to around 2000 grit, because of the strong PK 18 solid resin coverstock.

The Awesome Revs is a particle pearl and much earlier than the No Mercy, a solid resin.

I own several Hammer bowling balls along with an Awesome Hook.  I really like how Hammer's equipment reacts.  Mo Rich's awesome hook is a very strong ball that I don't use much.

Both company's make some strong equipment.  Hammer has some strong cores such as the No Mercy's.  However, Mo Rich makes the strongest cores in the industry.  I think Hammer makes stronger covers than Mo Rich.  If I were to put my No Mercy at 500 grit like the Awesome Hook is, it would be just as strong if not stronger.

I think your best bet is to buy a Mo Rich ball and see how it works for you.  Walter Ray Willams is a speed dominate player and he does pretty well with Mo Rich equipment.

Speed/rev dominant is a fairly obscure criterium.  Dependent upon the lane conditions, various individuals will have different perceptions as to whether or not they are speed dominant.  If your looking for a ball that is a step up from the no mercy (hooks more), the AH is a solid option, a step down perhaps the AFlip.  The Finish should be the closest to the NM with surface adjustments, as charlest pointed out.  The revs is probably fairly similar as far as overall hook potential, but I would expect the revs to be quite a bit rollier in the midlane with less backend.  I personally look for something like that when I want to go straighter, and I reserve more angular stuff for playing inside.

I also have to agree with dizzyfugu in saying that you should make sure that your driller knows your pap, tilt, and game very well.  Mo's cores are very strong and versitile in the right hands, but they roll poorly if you have a suspect driller.  Do Not mistake the hart of the No Mercy for the white mass bias indicator of the Morich stuff.
