Daddys got a new toy

Mini review for those that need to know;

O my F'N God... at "max bob/lift from the toes" release, on medium heavy with heavy carrydown, it is a good 8 to 10 boards more than my TA drilled 4 5/8 X 2 7/8 X 1 3/4 (both using an 800 matte surface).  Curiously, I am only getting about half as much flare from the womb (about 4" total) than I get from my TA (a good 8" plus)

If I backed out to a more sedate, repeatable release, it was just sick.  Easy midlane read with a strong arcing backend.  Extremely playable from all over the lane with proper adjustments in release.

I only had a couple of frames on 42' of fresh strip and oil, and I am giddy at the potential.  Can't wait for tomorrow.

More later.

PS... Core pic from layout guide.  I should have an actual core in my hands when Mo hits town next weekend.

Did anyone go to the Seminar/Demo in Pennsylvania yesterday?  I couldn't get off work, how was it?

It has been my understanding when you drill a balance hole inside the val, it reduces track flare. Outside the val increases the flare.

Pic of the layout on my TA.  Slightly smaller diameter balance hole and both are pitched away from the grip center.

TA = 8" of flare and change.
womb = about 4" from last nights fun.

I am off to the lanes to play!

Steve,

I have done a lot of study on this paticular iteam.  OTTOMH, only Brunwick actually prints that inside val holes reduce flare.  Currently both Rotogrip and Mo both state the opposite.  Ebonite and Track referr to the hole in relation to the corebody as the contributing factor.

The TA did not need the balance hole after the initial drill, it was added to increase midlane reaction (which it does ).  Before the hole, I saw about 5" total flare.

I'm out !

Again different opinions from mfg's. I have seen it myself on Brun and Storm, but who am I ? Not an engineer nor a physicist.

Saw Tomek Jr. throwing his at league Wednesday night. Ball does definitely hit different---however---it eats up oil. He bowled 1 game on our left lane and that lane hooked 2 or 3 boards more from the start of the night. He went 289, 269, 180. 48 in the 4th of the last game. Torch himself right out of the line.

Sick is an understatement... I know that its not as big an issue as it was back in the day, but what is this thing? Three piece...two piece...1 3/4 piece(LOL! Just kiddin' Mo...) So I guess this is supposed to outhook the TA huh?

When you've moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don't cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!

Symmetric VS Asymmetric
remember "real" asymmetric are design to retain tilt and rotation X-hole inside the val helps breaks R&T at the break. In symmetrical X-hole inside the val in most cases depending on layout shorten core designs which reduces flare.
