So what's the deal with the LevRG line??
« on: February 18, 2010, 10:46:45 PM »
Why are they going so cheap?  Were they all flops?  Which was/is considered the best of that line?

Some of those balls were more popular than others, but I don''t think the line was considered a flop by any means. I saw several people throw the original LevRg, and that ball was hella-strong and hard hitting. The issue was that it needed a ton of oil or to be thrown by someone with very few revs, otherwise it was apt to be too much ball.

The N''Sane LevRg was the next to come out. I owned one of those for a long time and found it to be a great ball. It gave decent length and very strong recovery on most patterns. I threw my second 300 with that ball, and I also used it to card my highest PBA Regional game to date (269). The N''Sane was also the ball that Walter Ray used during the famous "red ball up five" season.

I''m pretty sure the Solid LevRg was next. That was supposed to be a midpoint between the early-rolling LevRg and long and strong N''Sane. I never saw this one thrown very much, but it certainly seemed like a good notion for a ball. I''ve been very tempted to pick one up because, as you said, they have gone quite cheap from most sellers.

The last two were the N''Tense and the LevRg Response. The N''Tense was supposed to be a medium heavy to heavy ball that stored a bit more energy for the backend than the original LevRg did. The little bit that I saw it thrown, it looked really, really good. I think Walter Ray started using that one quite a bit toward the end of his time with Mo. As for the Response, I can''t say much for that one. I really never saw it thrown to know much about it.

Still, all in all, I think the LevRg line was considered fairly decent even if you didn''t see a ton of people using balls from it. Among other factors, you have to remember that Mo''s balls are often priced a bit higher than offerings from many of the big boys. These days, with all the great entry-level and mid-priced stuff out there, most people are apt to grab a C300 Noize for a bargain price instead of throwing a LevRg for top dollar. Just my .02.

One of my teammates uses 14lbs and the other uses 16lbs.  Those prices are just N'Sane!

Yea I just checked and a couple have 14''s available.. 15''s are not available in any of the closeout balls, except the Mojave.

the mojave is really a great ball. Totally surprise you because you are expecting a ball with very little motion. Actually it has a lot of motion and I have no hand. It is really easy to send it to the breakpoint but it does have one.  The Response is a particle in desguise. a very controllable ball. rolls from the beginning to the end really smooth. You probably have to dull it though. It is more of a dry lane ball than you think. I had 2 awesome revs and the response is a nice improvement for me. I took mine down to 1000 abrolon and It slid easier than the revs with slightly more backend on clean backends. If you can get those 2 balls cheap at B.B.com, they go good together for drier conditions.

After reading that post, it makes me want to save my $60 since they all appear to be not as advertised hence why they are blowing them out.

I think they are blowing them out because Morich has released 3 balls since then which are getting really great reviews the craze, Frenzy, and Mania

So did Mo produce too many LevRG line balls?  Or did they not sell well?  Or a combination of both?  It has to be one of the three...

the three new ones are not leverage line balls. He changed the cores and the covers. In my opinion it has a lot to do with marketing. You have to continuously change something for everyone to keep buying. There was nothing wrong with the leverage line. I think they were really strong for the average bowler and the big handed guys didn't need that much help so the new balls cater to the big boys.

I drilled one rico. I took it to the T.A.T. and got a fair amount of hook out it. I only used it on the free 2 hour practice and had a fair look with it. They gave us an evolve and a lane breaker so I never tried my mojave in the actual tournament. I did however in the practice compare the rico drilled mojave to another mojave drilled 80* 3 1/2 30*. the second mojave wouldn't even wrinkle. It went straight as my spare ball.
