Why did he laugh about drilling into the MB? Depending on the pitch of the thumb he/you do know they are going to meet eventually since they are going in the same general area of the ball right? (towards the center) That would be his mistake not the bowling companies, not that it is really an issue by any means.
Was the cg mis-marked or there more then one? Sometimes there may be a few different little pit marks that look like the cg and you then have to use the scale and box suggested pin to cg distance to make sure it is correct.
I have had it happen with several different companies including Morich and Brunswick. If the ball was some how damaged, had wrong logos or some other defect I could understand your complaints but most of this sounds like the person drilling the ball is just being a D#$K trying to make you feel bad about a purchase.
Did you buy the ball from him or somewhere else? (may explain a lot) Maybe post some pics of the ball as well.
