morich tackling the cheetah
« on: October 14, 2008, 11:09:50 AM »
Any one??? I am having a heck of a time on my sport league. I bought a Solid and Mojave. Both dr illed weak. 17-18mph and alot of revs, everything snaps too hard....too early. I have a lane #1xxxl and a Scout/r which I can consistantly get to the pocket but have to slow way down, they don't finish and leave single pins and splits. I bought a used Rev's w/o finger grips. I polished it and will try it this week. With out grips I don't get near the amount of revs, but the ball may be too strong. Well see........any suggestions would be appreciated.

spoken like a stroker drrev. But he does have a point I would go up the back of the ball more it really doesn't matter how much you put on it, then it will get down the lane easier and the read will be better down the lane

Personally, if everything was snapping too hard, then I would use the same ball with a little more surface.  If you are rolling the Mojave with the factory finish, then you might try taking it to 2000.

I had a great look on the cheetah with my nsane levrg. You had to adjust the type of roll you put on the ball.

i believe the point on the cheetah is to be accurate and maintain your speed and be able to speed up cuz what u dont need is backend.
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

I've used a polished Awesome Revs (layout 70 X 3 3/8 X 70)on shorter patterns. Good length with a hard arc on the backend.

My two major adjustments on short patterns are to uncup my hand in my setup and to put less axis rotation on the ball. This keeps it from flipping too hard on the backend but it requires me to keep my speed up.

Based on your profile I would throw some polish on your LevRG and Revs and give them a try. It sounds like you need to control the balls response to friction. Last night a guy in my league had the front 10 with a LevRG on Kegel's Boardwalk sport pattern.

Also where are you playing on the cheetah?

I like the sahara 75x5.5x75 hit it with the highest abralon pad and some good old track delayed reaction

Did they run the oil machine?  Was there any oil in it.....

Clark, don't be afraid to try a weak layout(5.5+ pin to pap) on something with an adjustable or tweakable coverstock.  I had a pro-cg Cell like this and it really make a nice, controlled move to the hole on the shorter patterns like Cheetah & Boardwalk.

If bowling at Jerry's North Bowl on Cheetah right now I'd ask Rory H. what he is using....he is a MoRich fanatic and will suggest good layouts and surfaces to attack the pattern.  I assume you know who I mean if not PM me and I'll give you his name/e-mail addy.

That's what Rory and I both used at RRL team tourney on a flatter pattern that played outside....down 5 board.  Worked rather well.

Moooorich, try the new Chainsaw. It's very clean through the front and really finishes on the back with tremendous pin carry. Only has a 1" flare. The lowest diff. .013 on the market. It might just be the best drier lane ball out there. Only time will tell. =:^D
