Morich Sahara
« on: May 23, 2005, 11:52:22 AM »
I was at a drilling session and Mo said this was the new ball coming out from morich and that it would be a dry lane ball. Does anyone know any more information on this and when the release date will be?

Revs,

Question: Do you think that this ball, asymmetrical or not, with the info already listed, do you think this is going to be weak enough to be for dry lanes?
It still sounds strong.

I guess we'll have to wait to see how strong the cover is.  The specs don't sound like a dry lane ball.  The Power Groove Dry is still asymmetric with a .041 differential, but apparently the cover and very high rg keep it a dry lane ball.  The V2 Dry was medium rg and particle and worked out well.

It wouldn't seem possible; YET Mo got the Ravage, which uses a polished but solid PK 18 coverstock, to be useful for virtually anything equal to or LESS than medium-light oil. I've seen strokers with a strong Ravage drilling hardly be able to use it for medium-light oil. (This, of course, does not take into account sanding this ball's surface.) So if he could do that, then I don't see why he couldn't make the Punisher handle even lighter oil.

Why don't they call it the MOjave?

Great idea! I bet if he had thought of it he would've used it.

Precision,

I do not doubt what you said. I see the same true with many of Track's bowling balls.

However for dry, the Punisher cover is not exactly weak.

See Charlest and Precision's responses....and, take this into consideration, KOTM uses a Colossus for lighter stuff!  Mo's stuff can be drilled to do anything, ....much like the the strong asym stuff from Track...

The Punisher cover isn't necessarily 'weak' but compared to what other offerings Mo has, it sure is.  This combo with the versatility of his Ravage (modified) core, and I'm sure it'll work on lighter stuff.  Also, I don't think Mo wants a ball that is "exclusive", therefore, you could still drill and cover prep the Sahara to do more than lighter oil....versatility also being a consideration.......a long and strong drill on this ball might have a frightening backend on medium light to lighter conditions.........

Just because a ball has Rg differential doesn't necessarily mean you are required to use it now does it?

Seriously, it's amazing how weak you can drill one of Mo's balls if you really want to.

Precision

That was the point I was (unsuccessfully) trying to make.  Just because the numbers look strong, the ball doesn't have to be.

Mo told me himself on Friday June 13th......

AND......I saw the ball!!!  (it wasn't for sale yet) It was the first ball out and it was sent to KOTM's place because Mo was there for the TNBT(sp?) and he wanted to see how it looks.........so it was there .....

and.....it's PURDY!!!

It actually says "for drier lanes" right on the ball.........
