Finish and oil

Well guys I have an Awesome Finish and it really doesn't handle oil for a crap, I mean it is on roller skates the whole way down the lane does anyone else hjave this issue or it just the drill pattern and how I bowl?

I have mind drilled with a dual angle layout not sure of the angles any more though, ring finger is through the pin and mass bias out about 2 inches PAP is 4 7/8 if that helps, sorry being vague.

Let me know what you think, ball is great if their is dry to get it into but any oil at all and it is all over anyone see this or what?

At OOB, the AFi is IMHO not an oil ball at all. It is also not supposed to be - it goes (very) long and then delivers its energy late and in a blast. It is great for medium conditions, or suitable for longer but thin patterns (e. g. with long buffed zones).

Neverthless, with some surface I found the ball with its PK18 coverstock to read the lane pretty well. At 1.000 grit or less, I think it can be an oil ball, but I would simply not use a flippy drilling on it, because the ball/core delivers its energy so violently. I am not sure that these contradictive setup directions go well together.

In it's box condition I would expect the reaction you're seeing. IMO, this ball wasn't designed to be an oiler.

What other surface grits have you tried?

Definitely not surprised.  The Finish is not an oiler at all, the one I've seen/thrown acts as a complement to the awesome hook after it breaks down.  Create a line with the hook until it burns up, then use the Finish to get the added length you need.  This is a go to ball for length where everything else checks up early.

If you want it to be an oiler you'll have to take it down to 1000 at least and see what it can do.

It's not an issue with the ball. The ball is designed, with that coverstock condition to handle medium-light to medium oil for an average revs AND average ball speed bowler. It is not an oiler; sorry you were under that impression.  With your ball speed dominant, it is probably best for light to medium-light and you had better hit SOME DRY!

I've seen this ball and it can be quite "awesome" with the right rev/speed combo and on the right oil pattern.

FYI Coverstock is PK18 solid, as far as I recall. So it can be surfaced to handle almost anything, including your balls speed. I don't know how much oil you're facing but I'd start with at least 1000 grit dull, given your ball speed (in profile). The core is very strong; I hope you didn't drill it too weak.

I know it is not oiler guys I thought it would handle a fresh shot a little bit better that is all.

It would great on fresh Medium/heavy for me but, so does a Sahara. ( I am higher track and rev dominant).

A ball is relative to what the player can do and what their game is. Ya see?

Well, it does, IMHO - if it has some dry room to cling to. But longer oil is just not its turf.
