Title: Need some help...
Post by: lane1convert on September 27, 2005, 11:21:01 AM
Okay, I just got a Shock & Awe, and I was curious as how to drill it up.  I hear they are really drill sensitive, so I thought I would ask the people who know best.  Anyways, I have about 400rpms (give or take a little), with decent speed (17-20 mph) and a high track.  I am wanting the ball to have a sharp breakpoint, with maximum track flare and maximum revs.  Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance,

-Tyler

Everything that I've read on here suggests to keep the pin BELOW the fingers, regardless of anything you might want to do. Why this is is something that I don't know, btu again this is just secondhand info from this site.

Mo's balls need to be drilled based on his drill sheets.  Take what you know about Pin and CG placement and disregard most of it.  Many of the people that have troubles with these balls, much like I used to, attempt to drill them using basic 5x4, 4x4, ets drillings.  The mass bias in these balls is so strong that it dictates a large part of the ball motion.  For a high-track bowler wanting a sharp break point Mo recommends the Pin at 3 3/3", the Mass bias at 6", and the Pin 3" above your midline.  This drilling will produce maximum revs, max track flare, and sharpest break point.  Many people have trouble with this layout because it borders on being uncontrollable.  The ball itself is high flaring, so most of the ones that I have drilled I have done by the control layout; Pin at 2 1/2" and 1 3/4" above the Midline (e.g. pin below fingers) and MB at 7".  If you have 400+ revs this will not appear to be a control layout going down the lane.  If you have any other ques feel free to PM me and I can elaborate more.

I've found that the RESET button is the easiest way to knock down ten pins.
