Has anyone tried it? How were the results?
-
I am having the urge to buy another ball. I figured if I polished the hook, maybe I could contain my ball-whore-itis. Changing the cover is alot cheaper than buying a new ball. Plus I wouldn't mind the ball getting down the lane a little further only if the backend is stronger.

Yes, the ball will go down the lane farther, but the back-end won't be a snappy back end. It will be more of an arc type. Heck, go ahead and try it b/c you can't hurt it and it might be what you are looking for.

My ball won't hook- Heck who am I kidding--It never does!!

I brought mine up to 4000 A to use between my LevRg and Flip, did'nt like it at all, back down to 2000 it went.the flip is better @ 1000 A and a compound buff.
the hook went down the lane great but it's backend and consistancey droped off dramaticly.and the LevRg is just a beast!

My hook is alot stronger then my levrg

I didn't really care for the Hook all that much, but I didn't play with the surface. OOB it was too strong for most mediums, but it went too long to be really good on oil. Again, good ball, bad match up of surface and drilling to my style.
In any event, as was already mentioned, you've got nothing to lose by trying it wish some shine to it. You can always change it back if you don't like the results. I've had more than a few balls look terrible at one prep only to bring terrific results at another. Take a chance.

in what sense, more backend or more mid lane?my levrg has way more mid lane and the hook has more backend for me.alot depends on the layout, cover finish and bowler.
I thought with my hook being a backend beastie that a finer finish would inhance the move off the dry but it just did'nt seem to like it much,I like the flip better for that.
but you won't know untill you try it so YES,give it a shot.

I had the levrg first then I drilled a hook after that exactly the same. My hook rolls alot stronger all the way through the lane. I like the ez rev core but for some reason I really really like the vanguard core I believe it was
