Response VS others
« on: March 16, 2009, 07:38:08 AM »
How strong is the Response VS LevRG, then How strong is Response VS Finish?

I am thinking of replacing Finish with Response or using the same drill pattern. Finish is drilled pin through ring finger MB out 2 inches.

Thanks!!

Calm down. There's just not that many Morich folks hereabouts.

Most reviews have compared the Response to the Nsane and the N'Tense and not the others.

The LevRG (I had one) is a major oiler and the Response is goign to get more length and more backend, unless you sand the LevRG to 4000 Abralon. Even then I suspect the Response would have a better overall ball reaction. The LevRG is great at 1000 Abralon and 2000 Abralon for the heavier oilers where you need an early reaction.

Compared to the Finish: 2 different balls for 2 different purposes. Response to maximize the "opening up of the lane". The Finish to be a control ball with more of a benchmark type of reaction.

WRW seems to like the Response with polish and for playing the down and in shot. Not sure I agree with that, but he's the oen on TV.

I don't have one but I've seen quite a few people throw it.  Comparing the reaction to the finish, nsane, ntense, levrg, and seek & destroy I'd say it's closest to the finish.  I was pretty disappointed with the reaction I saw out of it.  They were advertising this new RA coverstock and how great it was but the reaction I saw on the lanes was very squirty on heavier patterns.

I was at a shark tournament in baltimore for the PBA back in October and saw WRW and Jack Jurek throw it and they didn't get a good look at all.  It is a long and strong style of ball but on the heavier stuff it just couldn't cut it.

It seems to me that if you're looking to replace the finish for a house shot then it's a great fit!  But don't expect much on the heavier shots.

I have one the ball was made to go long and on fresh back ends hook hard into the pocket thats what it does. My response is drilled with a double drilling this ball is mint on this condition. Mo designed this ball for not heavy oil His heavy oil ball is the NT not the Leverage Response. My LR hits the hole hard and crushes the pins.

I have both an N'Sane and a Response same pin locations and MB locations. Same surface (2000 Abralon w/polish). The Response has a CG in the palm w/no x-hole and the N'Sane has a CG in line an a x-hole on my PAP. I was under the impression that the cover for the Response would be grippier so I put a more skid-flip drill on it to replace my N'Sane... I was wrong. It goes WAY longer... I actually was able to replace an old Tropical Storm in my arsenal with it... But I am certain that with ALL things equal (drill especially...) they would be close enough in my opinion to not NEED both. At first it was a dissappointment but just moving the Response to 4000 abralon and adding a little more polish I can replace a top-puck reactive with a EZ-Rev core which IMHO just carries a lot better... I just have to keep the polish on it is all.

So as I understand it this ball would best be drilled somwhat strong because it is not a real hook monster like some of the other stuff in the line. say like 40x4 1/2x35 or something similar to that? or Possibly like my Finish with the pin through ring finger?

Have my response drilled with a double thumb drilling. kept the coverstock at 4000 abralon with a light finesse polish. Ball goes long with the smooth coverstock it makes a very hard arc then hits the rack with explosive force. What I like about the response is the ball doesn't over react when it hits the dry.

I have two Responses.  The first one is drilled 50x4x40 which is long and controlled.  I have it at 2000 finish.  It goes long and has a very controlled move to the pocket.  The second response I have is 75x5x25.  Its extremely long and snappy.

My LevRg is drilled something like 45x5x40 p3.  Its a control drilling and it is a big arching banana.  I have it at 500 and can almost hook the lane.

My awesome finish is drilled 90x23/4x10 with a p2 hole.  I have a solid levrg drilled the same way.  They basically have the same cover except the solid has a stronger core.  If you want a similar ball try the Solid LevRg
