Title: S & A vs. Ace
Post by: Traumatize on April 07, 2005, 04:15:29 PM
Anyone drilled both of these or seen someone throw them both.  I lookin for the difference, and I want to know if the Shock will start up later, and be down the lane further than my Ace.  My Ace is drilled pin over the ring, $ inches above my midline, with the MB 2 inches right of the thumbhole in the strong position.

I have both and I can tell you that your s&a should go further before snapping.Obviously it depends on coverstock and drilling.I have mine both out of the box same basic drilling and my ace rolls towards the midlane. They are both great balls.I tend to use my Ace on wetter lanes at first, then I switch to my S&A to get more length and a shaper break through the carrydown.I throw about 17mph with a decent amount of revs.

I would definately get a Shock & Awe. It's lifespan will be alot lobger than the Ace from what I have seen of Storm Products. Yes, I have had them and yes I take very good care of them. But they seem to lose their pop more than any company I have thrown. I have heard the same for Ebonite Particles but the only Ebonite I have is the Ice. My Ace lost reaction after about 100 games as did 2 Deuces. I got another Deuce and used it sparingly later before selling it. They are great balls while they last. I have seen Morich balls go forever and ever as has the Sapphire Zones, etc. also coverstocks by Brunswick. Just my opinion. Hope it helps.

Shock & Awe Should be stronger due to its 400 Grit out of box.

....then finished w/ a compound....big difference between 400 smooth and a compound finish.....

that being said,.....I'd expect the S & A to be stronger
