Title: Sahara vs Ravage
Post by: Mayhem on January 29, 2006, 04:13:34 AM: I was looking at getting one of these. They look to have the same core. I was wondering which was a better ball and how they compared.

Sahara: Weaker pearl cover, slightly less differential and MB

Ravage: Shiny solid resin cover, slightly higher differential and MB

Need a medium oil ball, get the Ravage; need something for less oil, get the Sahara.

Post by: dizzyfugu on January 30, 2006, 05:54:11 AM: I am also planning to complement my OOB S&A with a Sahara. I got the opportunity to test a Sahara on a fairly dry lane and was impressed - even though it was not drilled for my style.

Very clean through the heads, very good length, and then the core kicks in to make nice move to the pocket. Be careful how you drill this one, it might go off too early and you might never ever get the ball into the right pocket
I will probably either drill the Sahara the same as my S&A (pin at 1:00 of ring finger, partly drilled into the pin) and MB stacked next to thumb, or even put the pin a bit higher above the bridge for more length. Nice ball for medium-dry conditions, but NOT a dry lane ball.

The ball for some reason went almost dead straight after teh breakpoint.

The Morich balls I have drilled with pin near ring give tremendous sideways hit and recovery!

I've seen otherw with pin over bridge and I've seen a lot of disappointment!

Note drill sheets from buddies....same flare from 2 1/2 to 5 3/4 and more side roll near 2 1/2 and move forward roll near 5 3/4.

For me an strong side roller it softened my entry angle so much I couldn't believe it! And I can really flip some other balls with pin over bridge...example....Supercharge...Hyde!
