Seek and Destroy vs. Weapon of Mass Bias
« on: February 21, 2006, 04:56:43 AM »
I have a WMB that I use for medium / medium heavy oil and shorter patterns.
Would the Seek and Destroy handle more oil on a longer pattern. I was thinking about getting one or just get another WMB and hopefully get it drilled stronger.

Does anybody have both? What do you think?

Thanks.

had a WMB, don't have a S&D, but I'd go w/ the S&D for the longer stuff, it's definately stronger and should fit the bill

Thanks Jeffrevs, I was leaning that way. I think I will. My ball driller did a good job on my WMB, so I'll trust him to set me up with the right drill for my seek and destroy. Any suggestions on a drill anybody? I'm 5 1/2 over 1/2 inch up I think. I'm a lefty tweener with medium revs, and I track high.

Thanks.

S & D without a doubt is the choice to make.

IMHO, 5-3/4 PAP to MB, 3-3/4 to 4" pin to PAP, pin around 2-1/2 to 2-3/4 above midline.

How is your WMB drilled ?

What do you want it to do ?

Jeff, I thought I'd add those drilling specs based on his wishes for ball reaction, ball speed, and PAP measurements.  Unless the guy has 30 degrees of axis tilt, we should be kosher.  However, your local driller might have another/better suggestion.

I'll take that drilling suggestion to my ball driller
230-n-up-or-bust. Jeffrevs, my weapon is drilled with the
pin next to and below my ring finger about an inch. The mass bias is two
inches below and two about to inches the right or left? I forget. I'm left handed you guys know what I mean. Even with the pin next to and below the ring
finger the WMB still goes sort of long. I would like the seek and destroy to roll up a little earlier and handle more oil than my weapon. If I get the desired reaction I'll play with the cover to fine tune it. Thanks again.

Your MB should be two inches to the left of your thumbhole.

The layout that I gave you should give you a ball with the pin somewhere to the left of your ringer finger, depending on what pin length ball you use.

I've read on here somewhere that you can use a little shorter pin if you're useing the ball for heavy oil. Thanks again.

If you are wanting this ball for oil--I'd try to keep the pin under 2in. up from mid-line IMO.  The higher the pin-the more angular in will create on the lane.  If you are looking for an 'oiler', then I'd think you want something with a little more of an arc.  Hope this helps. Even if you drill it with the pin higher--it should be better for the oil then the WMB.  Hope you enjoy it.
