I have one at 500 grit and one at 1500.  They respond like most balls to a change in grit, nothing special.  More even, earlier read, and more hook in oil sanded low (500) and more snap, more length and less hook in oil sanded high (1500 +)

Wow.  I would have guessed the S&D would have a LOT earlier read on the lanes than your AF.  I guess it depends on how you have them both drilled, what conditions you expect to encounter most frequently, and how rapidly conditions change when you bowl would also have to be considered before creating a gap in your arsenal so large you'd have to buy another ball.

230 i also have a fired up that goes between the AF and S&D and really dont have anything for heavier oil. Basicaly all ym balls were seperated by 3-4 boards and since i want to start going to JBT's this season instead of being a heavy oil ball (schorchin, passion, infinite one) i was thinking that bringing it down to 500-600 grit will get the job done
