So I re-layed out my Seek & Destroy

And I took your comments to heart.
see the picture below:

PAP 4 1/2" over 3/8" up

Again, for this ball, I am joining a sport shot league.
I was able to sub in it for one week last season, the oil volume was heavy and no play outside on a bump shot. Wiping oil all night frame 1 to 30. No play outside meaning, if I was standing at 12 and shooting to 5 or 7 I would bury the 3 pin for a 1-2-10. High average in that league was 185 for last season.

Only successful shot I had was my Absolute Inferno off the corner, and pull the string on about 10-12 feet of drier backend. Absolute maybe moved about 10 boards total on the back, playing off the 3 board, through first arrow to the pocket. Still left a ton of single pins, including a gut wrenching stone 8 on a flush shot, I still remember that, and that was around mid-november.

I'm looking to use this ball to burn a line if possible during the first 2 games or so around the 5-10 board, then move to either my Absolute Inferno or Original Inferno in the last game.

Expectations of layout: It will want to move early in the buffing, and have a pronounced move on the backend, little problems with skidding too much with the lower pin, but depending upon oil volume, I may need to worry about keeping my speed around 16-16.5MPH rather than the 14.5-15.5MPH I'm normally used to. Looking for this ball to cover ground on the backend, and give me the angle I need for better carry, and traction in carry down if I tweak my speed down a little. I may need to take the cover down to 800 to matchup better, but I will hold off on that until I throw it for at least a couple of weeks.

Comments?

Thanks

MegaMav,

Lazolio posted this S&D review. His lay is very similar to the one you intend to use. My S&D is drilled using the super-symmetrical layout with a 5/8th x-hole drilled 2 1/4 down (2 1/2 inch deep) my VAL. This layout gives me good mid-lane read with sufficient energy left over for carry. Something to consider.

I've had this ball since last spring.
The ball is set up like this:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y125/A_Good86/Seek.jpg?t=1166051045

I have found the ball to be versatile playing both in and out.
I've had the surface scuffed down in May with a burgundy pad for a 44' pattern very similar to shark on the pba. I found that even with this much surface the ball wanted to lope too much in the midlane and was too aggressive off the end of the pattern. When the shot broke down it was better, but not the best ball for such a tight pattern.
Optimal finish I found was to take it to around 1000 grit for easier patterns.
It has been good at providing a hard, yet even arcing motion on house patterns and midlength sport patterns (38-40 feet)

It hits well, but nothing ridiculous. The big advantage with this ball is that you can play on a variety of patterns and find success.

I'd strongly suggest this ball to league bowlers that only carry a couple balls to league as it is very versatile and consistent on your typical 40' house patterns. Especailly for those players that like to lay the ball down early and roll it.
I will not suggest this ball to tournament bowlers with a big arsenal of 6 or more balls because this ball is good on a variety of patterns but not spectacular on a particular shot. There are other balls out on the market that hook more and earlier as well as others that hit harder and turn the corner more.

Overall a good ball for your typical league bowler. This is a ball that will keep you out of trouble on a good variety of conditions, and provides both a nice midlane and backend read, but isn't strong enough upfront to give you too much trouble getting the ball through the front. A blue chipper if you only plan on carrying 2 or 3 balls to league or a tournament.

MegaMav,

The super symmetrical layout is shown below (thanks to Gordon24.) My layout very similar to mine except for the x-hole size and location.
