Total Shock and Awe ...Pretty impressive
« on: August 25, 2005, 12:35:29 AM »
I punched one up for my brother yesterday.
a 4 X 3 pattern. He is a right hander with medium revs and medium to medium low speed. The house had just oiled for the PBA League. The pattern was Scorpion. 41 feet - gutter to gutter. My brother NEVER sees this much oil. He stood in his normal spot for a house shot and threw 2 staight into the gutter. He then squared up and threw down 10 to 7 and threw the next 9. After he was done we told him what pattern he was on. Needless to say he was very impressed.

I have one drilled 4 1/2 x 3 under ring finger this ball move more than anything else i own. The mb is about an 1 1/4 right and below tha thumb ball needs oil or forces you way left, the only ball close to it is my 2002 super carbide bomb. The TSA has better hit and is easier to kill straighter with hand changes unlike the SCB.

I've drilled 2 of them so far and this is the best/most impressive ball I've seen on the lanes since the Inferno.  The versatility with the cover and ability to manipulate the drillings is crazy with this core/cover.  You can take a case and cover every condition except for dirt dry.

I never had a ball that hooked like the TOTAL SHOCK AND AWE...  At first i didnt want to drill it up because i thought that it would hook to much fore me, and i didnt want to polish ot up because i wanted to keep it boxed finish.  But anyway glad to here your success with it and it is a great ball.

The Total Shock and Awe does not use the cover of the Ultimate inferno which is activator solid, instead it uses a modified version of the powrkoil 18.  Balls from brunswick that have the powrkoil 18 are the nemisis and the rampage (although the Rampage is a pearl, which the total is not).  The total annihilation, also from morich, uses the exact same cover as the total shock and awe.

The powrkoil 18 is a rather strong cover, yet I havn't tried it against the ultimate or the strike, the only two balls which I know to have activator solid.  I have used my total along with the strike, but the cores are not similar enough to call this a just comparison.  Never the less, the total is stronger, but I can't help but think this is due to the vanguard.  If I was to say, the activator solid is probably slightly stronger than the pk18, but this difference is more than made up for by the vanguard core.

The Pk 18 is much stonger than the activator cover. the enhance C4 cover on the Morich balls are beef up versions of the PK 18 coverstock. The TSA is probly one of the strongest reactive resin balls ever made.

With the faster spin time, higher Mass Bias Differential and lower box finish I would put My money on the TSA.

The TSA is the strongest ball I've thrown, period! I have never been able to play so deep, and actually have the ball recover. All I can say is WOW! This thing moves and hits.

Mine is drilled 4 X 5 1/2 pin 3" above midline.
