The Sahara queston
« on: December 10, 2007, 09:47:21 AM »
Greetings once again,

I have been searching for a dry lane ball or should I say a very lite oil ball, btw, everyone has their own definition of dry lane ball so its difficult for me to get my point across so sorry for the confusion.

So anyway, I have a Red-Lane1 XXXL plastic ball (this is the one with a core)
so has anyone thrown both of these? I am wondering if the Sahara is stronger then the Red-Lane1.

P.S. I also asked the LaneMasters forum the same question and they have a nice ball out now called 'The Hornet' but after watching the last few PBA telecasts I really would like to try some Morich stuff out.

Thanks for the feedback!

Don't get a Sahara for dry lanes unless you drill it very weak. The ball is very strong and not really a dry lane ball. The best thing if you were to get this is to have it layed out very weak and it might would work but MoRich is a High performance line and the sahara has the same core as his other older balls. The core is just to strong to use for a dry lane ball.

Jake,

AFAIHL with respect to the "Red-Lane1 XXXL plastic ball" being plastic, every other ball, except polyester balls, is stronger than the XXXL. The dynamic core in the XXXL only makes it stronger than other polyester balls.

So balls, like the Lanemasters Hornet, the MoRich Sahara, the Brunswick Power Groove Dry/R, the Storm  Tropical Storm, the Visionary Blue/Green Centaur, even the new AMF Angles (pearl urethanes with a very plain pancakes core)  are all significantly stronger than the polyester Red, Clear or Black  Buzzsaw XXXLs.

I think the FLIP would be a good choice for you. Ask your driller for the best lay-out for your "DRY" lanes. I really think the FLIP is the only ball in the line-up that you could use for dry lanes.

if you want a dry lane ball get a hornet, bullet something like that, morich didnt exactly accomplish a "dry" lane ball with the Sahara for drier lanes, there right there for "drier" lanes but not sahara dry.

The Sahara can do a lot of things....mucho depends on the mass bias position!

Usually will supply more backend however than an XXXL.

The coverstock is very clean for a reactive(Brunswick punisher coverstock) but stronger than plastic.

I have actually used my Sahara on very oily conditions where backend was needed...it looked pretty good!
