Morich CG markings in ref to MB

Several years ago I went to a Morich/Track seminar where they gave away the Freak Out and Mo Pinel was one of the speakers.  Its when they were taking about spin rate and the denomintor (sp?).  One of the things Mo bragged about wa the relative closeness of the pin, CG and MB being in line, unlike some of the other ball manufactuers.

I bring that up now because I decided to try Morich again and recieved my first order of a LEVrg.  The pin/cg distance was correct for what I had ordeed, but if you drew a line from the pin to the MB, the CG was to the left of that mark two inches.  So how have things changed from when Mo was on a tour with Track and relative closeness of CG to being in line with the pin and MB and now recieving Morich balls with the CG off the mark by two inches?

I know, cgnomatter.  Thats not what I asked.

cg does matter when you want to layout a asym ball this or that way without putting a huge weighthole in it... for my and with my MAchine this was a problem casue for me the CG was 1" to the right, two and that was bad for my purpose.. combined with  a "high" tw)

Grayson,

I heard that if you are right handed, having the CG to the left of the line between the pin and the MB was better off then having the CG to the right of that line.  Having the CG to the left might even help with not having to put a balance hole in the ball.  Won't know till I drill the ball, but thats how it was explained to me.

That's true, Nicanor.  Having the CG to the left for a right-handed bowler puts the CG closer to the grip when the MB is anywhere to the right of the thumb.  That means less side weight and makes it easier to keep the ball legal.

Having it to the right of the pin-MB line means the CG is swung more than the MB and that could mean a lot of side weight.

It does depend on the starting top weight, so if you only have 2oz of top and the CG is offset to the right, it probably won't make much difference.  4oz of top and having the CG off to the right is much more problematic.

I always thought the same about the CG is better to the left, but when buying balls off the internet is there a way to avoid getting those that are about 2" to the right, cause I don't want to buy a ball like that?

That's what I have on my Awesome Finish - CG is about 1" off of the pin-MB line. Pin is above ring finger, MB right next to thumb, but the CG ended up pretty close to the grip center. No balance hole necessary

My Archon had a 4.5" pin and the cg was kicked to the right of the pin-MB line by more than an inch.  I didn't mind because the TW was only 1.8 oz.  

With the layout I chose, the CG ended up very close to my PAP and the mark no longer exists due to the x-hole being on my PAP.

The CG does matter if it's in line or not. IMO, the ball is stronger with the CG out to the right. If I had a choice between 2 balls, I would want the CG to the right of the pin and mb. =:^D
