Next for Me?

I have a WMB drilled 3 3/8 X 4 1/4 x 2" and a S&D drilled 4 1/2 X 5 1/4 X 2 1/4".  Both have box finish.  On a fresh shot, I seem to get similar reactions out of both balls, but the S&D is about 5 boards stronger overall.  Once carry down sets in, the S&D seems to handle it, while I have to square up with the WMB.  Once the lanes start to dry out, I have to move in fairly deep with the WMB to get to the pocket, but then seem to leave a plethera of weak 7 pins...

I currently have a NIB Sahara in my closet waiting to drill up.  Would this be a good ball to fill in underneath the WMB when the lanes dry out?  I have read the sahara is more of a medium conditions ball anyways...

It depends on what you're looking for.  Remember, the Sahara isn't necessarily a 'weak' ball.  It's got the Ravage core in it w/ the Punisher cover.  Control drill will let it get thru the heads (less flare early) and still recover, later revs due to mass bias placement.

For me, it's my favorite (or any control variation...see profile specs on the Mayhem) for Morich stuff.  It's very versatile, and can be strong AND readable.

Putting the control drill on the Sahara makes most sense to me based on what the Sahara was designed to be.  However, if you're looking for a 'get thru the heads better w/ a flippier backend' control drill may not be what you're looking for........

I think deciding what you actually want the ball to do (or what you NEED the ball to do as opposed to what you want the ball to do) is one of the toughest tasks...  I want something for medium/light oil conditions (or broken down medium/medium-heavy) that will allow me to get inside and still carry the corners.  With that being said, I probably am looking for length with an angular enough backend to carry the corners.

that's the beauty of the control drill....it has late revs to carry corners...I mean you're going to leave corners regardless here and there, but....the nice thing is....you won't necessarily have to get deeper in lighter broked down stuff w/ the control drill.

A 2000 abralon finish would do the trick to keep it even more versatile.

i alos  agree, the sahara is an awesome ball with the control drill, its great for most conditions when they start breaking down and the carry, its to be seen

Hmm.. received the Morich reply back... came out with a layout of:

Pin to PAP distance = 5 1/2"
Mass Bias to PAP distance = 4 5/8"
Pin height above the midline of the grip = 2 3/8"

Sounds as though its almost the other extreme from the control layout...

OK....looks like he gave you a length pin position and a mass bias between sharp and continuous......I'd try it !
