Just because they manufacture it does not mean they own it. Why would you say that?
Miller and Coors manufacture Samual Adams; they sure don't own it.

I think that it's brunswicks coverstocks and Morich cores.
--------------------
Aaaargh. Another freakin' 10 pin!
-
Mo uses his own tweaks to the Brunswick covers. I believe he had his own particles that were added, they weren't the standard Brunswick particles.
There was a post that listed who owned or manufactured who. The manufacturers are
Storm
Brunswick
Ebonite
900 Global
Visionary
Lanemasters
Storm owns Rotogrip (and, I believe AZO). Ebonite owns Hammer, Columbia, Track, and Dynothane. (Previously it was Columbia owns Track and DT and they were a manufacturer as well).
Brunswick makes Morich and Elite. 900 Global makes Lane 1 and AMF (they don't own AMF, they license the name for consumer bowling stuff; AMF pinsetters and scoring systems and house equipment are still done by the separate AMF company). Visionary makes Banger and Insite. Lanemasters doesn't make anyone else's stuff.
Except for the "owns", they're all separate companies.

Samuel Adams is brewed in two breweries, one is here in Boston and the other is in Cincinnati, OH. Both are owened by the Boston Beer Company, Inc.
I know, I know...when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, but I take my micro brew as serious as I do my bowling.

C'mon, slap get real. If you really took your beer seriously, then you wouldn't be drinking Sam Adams ...

What do YOU recommend?!

Real bowlers whiff the 3-10 by putting the ball between the two!

charlest- Overall Sam Adams is a quality product, as a beer geek I'm not ashamed to admit I drink it. That said, when I'm shopping for home consumption there are other micros I will pick before SA for most styles. However when at a restaurant and given the choice between BMC, Corona, Heineken or SA, I'll glady order the Sam!
twoheadboy- Support your regional microbrewies! I'm not sure where you live, but chances are there is great beer produced in your area.

Right now I'm drinking Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale, and Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout. I almost always can pick a beer from Rogue Brewery in Oregon. They seem to me to have a little more character than any Sam Adams.
On checking the refrig this afternoon (Couldn't think of the brewery name):
Long Trail (Vermont) Double Bag Ale.

I agree with it is a quality product and if I had to drink it ,,, well, I have chosen Heineken before. It just does not have as much character as many other breweries. I listed some above. I keep trying some of their more interestingly named beers, like Black Lager. But my reaction is always ... so what? Wasted money at $6.99 - $7.99 per 6 pack.

Yes, I agree. 90% of the time I will chose PA, NJ, Vermont breweries and few in Oregon, Colorado & CA that find their ways eventually to NJ.

I haven't seen Left Hand around here but I've had the others, all great stuff you have there! The black chocolate stout is my favorite beer from Brooklyn. Although the Belgian style Brooklyn One they released last year is a close second. As of yesterday my beer fridge has been cleared out in preparation for a major beer run for Octoberfest brews tomorrow. I must gain 5 lbs this time of year. Prost to Marzen-bock!
Off the top of my head, the one Sam Adams product I would consider a "best of style" is the Double Dock. That stuff gives a few imports a run for their money. The Boston "Ale" is pretty good too if you can find it.

The beer scence in Boston is alright. We've got some great regional stuff and a few better bars and stores that bring in quality stuff from all around. Most of my purchases are Mass, Vermont and Maine plus the usual suspects Stone, Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada, Alesmith.

Last batch, 2006/7, was 10.6% alcohol, but it still tasted rich and chocolatey to an intensedegree. You did not taste any lingering or overpowering alcohol.
Utterly delicious!
I am finishing off my last 6 pack in anticipation of the 2007/8 batch.

Sounds like a personal problem. See the chaplain or the psychiatrist.

You should see the new batch very soon. In the weekly email I get from my beer store, it's listed as possibly in stock next week. I still have 3 bottles from the past 2 years squirrled away!

I tried that a few years back, saving a few bottles. I just didn't care for it as much. It was similar to Tawny ports, compared to Vintage: kind of had less life to them, almost too laid back.

It's not an exact science. I hang out with some hardcore beer geeks and they exposed me to some "interesting" (ie...some good, some awful) aging experiments.
I'm sticking to the easy stuff, I have a few chocolate stouts, old guardians, and bigfoots. All beers known to age well.

I hear you, but my wine cellar is for wine and beer storage. The "aging" section is for wine. The beer section is to mix 6 packs to take upstairs to put in the pantry next to the fridge. Sometimes I overlook a beer or just save them, like last year when I could only get 2 cases of the "precioussssss" Black Chocolate Stout. A little expensive. This year I'm going to try to pack away 3 or 4 cases of that liquid black gold.

SA is a good for a mass produced beer. I went a step further than being a beer geek. I learned how to brew, its rather simple when you get the process down and understand what affects the small changes have. Just put my oatmeal stout from primary fermentation to secondary..Yummy. 5 gallons of beer costs me about $30...
