WMB Super Duper 2 game MINI review!
« on: November 18, 2004, 03:17:06 AM »
The weapon: 16 pounds,...1000 smooth, pin 3 3/4" from axis, mass bias @ 5 1/4" w/ a 'target hole' 2" inside val, modified hook-set. For my game...a hook-set type drill is best...(see profile for more info)

Lanes:
Fresh....I mean ...super fresh THS with super screaming backends!!

NOTE: the 2 games I threw were in BOX condition 500 grit....it is now at 1000 grit to smooth it out a bit

My typical start point for most houses is left foot on 20,...yeah...right!! LOL can you say 2-4 ...barely! Well...I moved to 25....nope....and finally settled on 30...crossing the arrows at 18 out to 5-7 at the break.  Granted it took me a whole game to get a feel for this ball....but game 2 ended with 8 in a row once I found the right line ! ( I don't usually play deeper than 25....you know...revless over here !)

This ball revs pretty nice....reads the mids well and seems to start reading the pattern immediately as if its on a path.  The way my ball is set up...it's a nice strong move but it's very readable ...you can see it moving...so I'd say hard arc, but not too hard.  Even in box , it did get decent length...more than I thought...

Hit: ....for me,...on the condition I was throwing on....if I was anywhere close to the pocket....forget it!  Once I got lined up in game 2...I knew just past the arrows if it was striking...and it did.  2 games....NO 10 pins....I did split a few times due to me just finding the line.  A few higher hits carried, and a few lighter carried as well. Not EVERY SINGLE one....but most did.  Flush pockets were dead-10 in the pit !!

For what I see....this ball will be first out followed by the Herc.  The WMB seems like a true lane reader that can open up a THS immediately and carve your line !

I'll take her to my mens league tonight and see what happens on that pattern and report back

cman & LL,

If you want to see a reeeealy smooth reaction out of a wmb, go ahead and put the psa near the track.  This baby, though, likes to rev.  Get the BM out and spin to win (except for your "tough lefty" house, LL).

Jeff, now that you have had the WoMB for a month what else can you share. I would assume that you have had several more opportunities to toss it. I'm interested because Santa should be leaving one under the tree.

Tom,...yes, quite a few! I've been on a nice little scoring binge here lately...nothing extravagent, but for me, lately, yes...it's been good!!....630's....the hit is tremendous....and...YES...it WILL leave 10 pins here and there,...especially if the operator isn't consistent !!!  Anyhow...I like the way it reads the lane but you still get a nice push, and although the reaction is strong....it's very controllable and readable...CAVEAT: see MY drilling! .....

I take her out again tomorrow night !!!

Jeff - thanks for the update.

Question for you.  What is your track diameter?  and where does that fall in regards to axis tilt.

I hate to say it Doc,...but I don't know for sure...all I know is that I'm currently in the process of tweaking my track diameter (smaller) by going to a different pitch on my ring finger recommended by Mo a few weeks ago....it's working...it's lessened, and....I'm tracking slightly lower, just like Mo and "king of the mill" said it would do......

I'll try to get 'kotm' to answer your question....he knows

King/Jeff - So if you have a low axis tilt of say around 10 degrees doesn't that mean you have a tendency to roll the ball and lose axis rotation faster than someone who has higher tilt or more of a spinner?

Am I correct in thinking that setting the pin close to 4 inches would make the ball flare more but also roll earlier than say moving it closer to say a 2 1/2 flare less but retain rotation longer.

You say the MB is 5 1/4 from axis but where is it placed in relation to the thumb hole?

Thanks
