Getting an Awesome Flip, yay!
« on: November 28, 2008, 04:26:48 AM »
I'm very excited, i'm finally getting an NIB Awesome Flip! I bought it from renoatpikeville, great repeat seller by the way. I don't need help laying it out because I leave that up to my driller, I just tell him what reaction I want and he lays something out for me. It's worked perfect everytime so I know he will come up with something good. I just wanted to hear some stories of people who have one, like how it rolls for you, what pattern you absolutely love to throw it on, or anything else you can think of. Thanks for looking!

My team captain just picked one up few weeks ago.  He had it drilled with the cg left (negative).  Kind of gets a "hook & set" type reaction.

Revs up well for me makes a nice smooth but strong move for me. I have mine OOB with secret sauce instead and it works exceptionally well for me on the chamelion on wood. I have it drilled to be long and strong. Unfortunately it rolls too close to my gravity shift which seems to give me a little more room for error.

Yeah, Mainzer told me it is very close in comparison to the Shift. Thanks for the posts so far guys!

Im simply telling my experience you may have had a different experience with them. I roll with a lot of forward rev which seems to really smooth the balls out for me both will roll to about 40ft and make a strong smooth reaction back not jumpy snappy etc at all.

To the Shift, uh No, to a Storm Paradigm maybe. It's way more angular at the break and it's easy to drill too strong! Yes I had 1 and it was very condition/pattern specific, on the right shot, it was $$$, on anything else, Skid/Flip Over/Under city, if your looking for a Great Skid with an Awesome Flip reaction @ 45 feet, this is the ball, if your looking for an Arc, it won't do it unless you go with a Control drilling.

Mainzer told me it was similar to the Shift but more angular like you had stated before. Sorry, I should have wrote it a little more clearer before.

I don't think the Awesome Flip rolls anything like the Shift! The Shift is a particle pearl and the Awesome Flip is the Activator+, which is pearl reactive and the coverstock is like the Absolute Inferno but with a stronger asymmetrical weightblock. It would be closer to the Gravity Shift more than the Shift! Just my $.02, Bruce

Sorry, I got a little carried away with the Storm comparison thing but I just wanted you to Respect the Power aspect of the Awesome Flip before drilling because it is a Deseptive looking ball. A couple of years ago, I had a Shock & Awe that I loved because it made a Strong arcing move to the hole, I ruined that ball by over heating it and I bought the Awesome Flip because the cover was the same (Activator Plus), even though the Awesome Flip had the Flip block on the top versus the Block being on the bottom with the S&A, I thought I could drill it the same as the S&A, well, I had limited success with the AF and could never trust it's break point and I left an un-godly amount of 9's with it.

I don't think it is one of the best balls I've ever seen...or one of the best from Morich(awesome revs is all that and more!)

BUT...a very good bowling friend of mine this season went 290, 190, 300 with his this year.  Pin up...stacked on wood.

Cool! Thanks man. I just wanted to make sure that it would be controllable on synthetics since that is what I will be throwing it on.
