The Motiv Forza SS bowling ball is the solid version of the Forza bowling balls. This ball combines versatility and hook potential without losing continuation. The Helix HFS (high friction solid) coverstock is fine tuned with a 3000 grit LSS finish. The Sigma weight block in this ball has a low RG and high differential that offer impressive down lane motion. This bowling ball is ideal on medium to medium-heavy oil conditions.

Description: The Forza SS is the fourth Forza in the series, and the second with a solid cover stock. The infamous Sigma Core replaces the Torx Core in this Forza combined with the new Helix HFS (High Friction Solid) cover stock. This Forza once again has the MOTIV Badge Logo, which gives it great shelf appeal.

Reaction: This Forza is an improvement on the original Forza with the core really changing the dynamics. With MOTIV’s constant improvements in cover stock technology, the Forza SS is a stronger version of the original Forza. In terms of shape the Forza SS is early as you will need even on the heaviest of patterns. As early as the Forza SS is though you will still see what MOTIV is known best for, continuation. If you watch my video you will see the ball being thrown on the PBA Bear pattern (40’, heavy and flat). The ball starts up very soon never gets too right too fast on the pattern. Because the ball stayed in front of me it still had great continuation, even through the heavier gold pins. If there is some decent volume and they are going to play tougher/flatter the Forza SS is really going to be an asset. Next in the video is a fresh house pattern in which the ball allowed me to once again control the lane and honestly never over reacted when encountering friction. This will be a great benchmark ball for those who don’t like to see the ball change direction too fast, but still need something stronger.

Comparisons: MOTIV inserts the Forza SS in the middle of the smooth column on the ball guide (http://www.motivbowling.com/resources/ball-guide.html). It sits above the Venom Shock as the Forza SS is definitely earlier, smoother and has more hook potential than a Venom Shock. The Forza GT has been in my bag a lot recently. I added surface to the original box finish of the Forza GT to get it to read sooner, but the Forza SS is just naturally earlier even with less surface.

Summary:  Personally the Forza line has been the most consistent and successful line for me. It’s nice to have a stronger version of the original Forza as it now competes with the stronger covers that MOTIV has released since the original. The stable core and cover combination also make this a very versatile piece when it comes to changing hand positions which I like to do a lot. This ball provides a lot of hook and consistency at this price point!

DESCRIPTION

INNER CORE - Sigma
COVERSTOCK - Helixâ„¢ HFS Reactive
FINISH - 3000 Grit LSS
RG RATING - 2.47 (15 lbs)
RG DIFFERENTIAL - 0.47 (15 lbs)
FLARE POTENTIAL - 5"+

REACTION

The Forza SS is the next step in the evolution of the Forza line. This ball has gone back to it's roots with a big boost in performance. The original Forza was best suited for shorter patterns and shallow angles. The Forza SS is an improvement in every way possible. The SS is an early reading ball best suited for medium oil. This ball carries across a wide variety of patterns. Whether you have to play up the outside on a shorter pattern, or move inside and play the middle part of the lane, the SS will get the corners out. It has a smooth yet strong predictable motion that is great when having to control the lane.

VIDEO

COMPARISONS

In the video, I compared the Forza SS to the United Revolt, Forza GT, and the Chronic Paranoia. The layout is 60 x 4.5" x 75. In terms of overall hook potential, the Forza SS fits in between the United Revolt and the Forza GT. It is also stronger than the Chronic Paranoia. As for the shape, the Forza SS reads the lane earlier than the other three balls which means it is very predictable. The United Revolt and the Forza SS are somewhat similar in shape with the United Revolt being stronger overall. In the video you will be able to see how the hook potential and shape differ from ball to ball.

I also compared a Forza SS with a 60 x 4.5" x 75 (pin down) layout to one with a 60 x 5.25" x 40 (long pin up). The pin down one had a much slower response to friction which produces a rounder shape and more overall hook. The long pin up gets further down lane with a faster response to friction and less overall hook. I haven't had any problem striking with both layouts from multiple angles.

SUMMARY

When the Revolt Havoc was discontinued I was disappointed. It was my go to ball for tighter conditions because of how it rolled. The Forza SS is better than the Havoc. Plain and simple. It reads early but isn't nearly as forward off the spot as the Havoc. I am able to play a wider variety of pattern while still maintaining a predictable smooth motion. As I have stated before, I am always adjusting surface to see what a cover can and cannot do. So far, I haven't had to touch the cover on either of my Forza SS bowling balls because of how well they roll. I look forward to seeing how much I can vary the shape and how receptive the SS cover is to surface changes. This ball is great on tighter conditions, but it also blends out the wet/dry of house conditions without burning up and going through the pins flat. This ball is a welcome addition to the Motiv lineup and a great piece.

Summary:
Wrapped with the all new HFS (High Friction Solid) Coverstock, developed for the Forza SS, the Sigma core is back and better than ever. The intent when developing this ball was to engineer a bowling ball to provide both incredible versatility and loads of hook potential. This bowling ball will absolutely be one that all bowlers will love and appreciate. This ball is incredibly smooth and strong through every part of the lane including the explosive hit power when going through the pins. I drilled this ball to mirror my current benchmark and favorite MOTIV ball, the Chronic Paranoia. With the same layout, I have noticed that the SS is a few boards stronger than the Chronic without losing the continuation that I want to see from a benchmark ball. I have only thrown the ball a few times and I’m very impressed from what I have seen. I can’t wait to test this ball on some sport conditions and in the tournament setting going forward. You can’t go wrong having this ball in your bag for the upcoming league season, the Sigma core is back and better than ever!

COMMENTS

This time we had the chance to try the Motiv Forza SS and this ball is definitely an improvement over the popular Forza and the Forza GT.

Personally, the original Forza is one of the best balls I have ever thrown. Due to my low rev rate, this ball offered me easy revs and a smooth and consistent reaction down the lane. When the GT was released, I noticed that it had a stronger motion down the lane, so it allowed me to move in a little bit deeper than with the original, but it wasn't as smooth as the Forza was. The Forza SS gives me the best of both balls.

The Forza SS is really smooth and predictable. I can play more tighter angles with it and the ball has a consistent reaction from shot to shot.

The ball offers a strong midlane read and a surprisingly strong down lane motion. When I had to move right and play deeper, the ball offered me plenty of recovery down the lane, something I didn't have with the original Forza.

Somehow Motiv was able to put together the best features of the Forza and the Forza GT into the Forza SS. It has the smooth, predictable motion of the Forza and it has the strong, but consistent shape down the lane of the Forza GT... Really impressive.

I compared the Forza SS with the Jackal Ghost and the Venom Shock.

The Jackal Ghost is stronger overall. The Ghost has a similar shape than the Forza SS but is a tad earlier. It has more hook potential and it handles more oil than the Forza SS.

The Venom Shock is weaker than the Forza SS. The Shock is cleaner, and has a faster response to friction than the Forza SS.

The Forza SS is the kind of ball I could use on almost anything but extremes conditions. The SS is easy to read, it has great continuation and it is more versatile than I thought.

It is a great option for bowlers who are speed dominant or who have a low rev rate. The Forza SS revs up quickly and if offers something that I'm always looking for when I use a ball like this one: Consistency and predictability.

I feel this ball is a great step down from the Jackal Ghost. Once the Ghost either burns up or hooks too much, the Forza SS is a great ball to go to if you want to keep a similar shape.

This is a great option when you want to blend the pattern. When you are bowling on a walled up house shot or in a flat pattern, you want to control the backend with a ball that offers a smooth reaction down the lane and doesn't overreact.

This is definitely the strongest ball in the Forza series. Kudos to Motiv on improving a ball that was already a great piece. The SS does exactly as advertised.

Thank you for watching!

Short excerpt:
All in all, we really liked the Motiv Forza SS. We all saw that strong but predicable motion while have great shape. For me, that’s the key that I believe will make this ball a benchmark type success, the shape. If you have average hand with even a little tilt or speed dominant with forward roll, you will find this ball quite usable on typical medium house conditions. If you are heavier handed and rev dominant, you will like this on the heavier patterns. This ball will look especially good on tougher patterns. I’m looking forward to seeing this one on some of the PBA patterns.

Review:
The Forza SS by Motiv has been highly anticipated by bowlers who loved the Sigma core.  The Sigma core was a fan favorite and well deserved to be. The core revs easily, but saves energy for backend motion and hit. In my opinion, the new High Friction cover on the Sigma core is a huge improvement for today’s oils. This is one of the best core to cover combinations I have bowled with. The cover tunes easily from low grits to high or polish. Once you get the finish that best suits your condition the ball requires very little maintenance. My old black sigma had to be restored after a few games, not the Forza SS. I just clean the ball after each session with Motiv Power Gel and I am ready for the next set.  I knew pretty quickly the Forza SS would be a favorite of mine. The new Forza SS reads the mid lanes very well and provides a nice hard hitting back end. This ball carries light hits as well as any ball I have ever rolled before. The best way I can describe the motion is like the Chronic Paranoia with more back end and hook. I love my Chronic, but when it quite won’t get there I now have a juiced up version in the Forza SS that will.  I don’t have a high rev rate and we shot the video on a Kegel Challenge Pattern, but I knew I could use the Forza SS with no problem. The Forza SS hooks more than I expected. I would put it between my Chronic Paranoia and Jackal LE. I would even say Motiv could have put the Forza SS in the Medium-Heavy range. The colors on the Forza SS are not flashy but look great.
This ball will be a great addition to any arsenal.

Summary:
The Forza SS is a big hooking hard hitting ball.
The colors are very nice and look strong.
The entry angle provides a great carry percent.
If you want a strong mid to heavy oil ball the Forza SS is a great choice.

Layout:
   65 x 5 x 35

Versatility, predictability, and reliability all define the Motiv Forza SS for me. The new Helix HFS reactive coverstock (finished at 3000LSS) was developed to be wrapped around the successful Sigma core (2.47RG, .047Diff). The Sigma has been my favorite core bar none and I have been excited to see it back in action.  The total strength of this ball has allowed me to easily play on fresh house shots without being too early or energy-deprived at the pocket. The HFS/Sigma combination reads the midlane ridiculously well while still retaining energy to continue through the pin deck. Once the shot starts to break down I have been able to move left quite a bit without sacrificing much hitting power; the houses I bowl in have a fair amount of volume so a typical three game block has not necessitated me crossing left of 20 yet. So far the only factors that this ball has not excelled at is on burned up, or lightly applied, oil and large launch angles through the heads; this is not a detractor as this ball is meant to eat through the heavier to medium conditions with the Tag Cannon or Freestyle Rush being able to fill the later-in-the-day role. The Forza SS gives me a good benchmark ball to test patterns and start the day out reading the lane properly.

Review:

The Forza SS is the latest release from MOTIV Bowling. What makes this release so special is because we have brought back one of our most successful and all around fan favorite cores we have ever produced, the Sigma core. Combining the Sigma core with the new Helix HFS (High Friction Solid) cover stock, the Froza SS is design to give MOTIV fans something that will hook but still give you smooth down lane motion and still have enough energy to get through the pins. You will never see any motion like this on the lanes. Get you Forza SS now at your local pro shop today.

NNER CORE       Sigma Core
COVER STOCK   Helix HFS Reactive
FINISH              3000 Grit LSS

Comments:

When I first learned that the Sigma Core was back, I literally did the Daniel Bryan yes chant. That core as brought me so much success on all lane conditions and pretty much made me fall in love with MOTIV. Throwing the Forza SS has brought back so many good memories and it’s just nice to see the Sigma Core go through and destroy pins. If your looking for something that hooks but still want that continuation through the pins than the Forza SS is the ball for you. This bowling ball is special and when you throw it you shall see how special it is. High Rev Players will love the versatility the Forza SS brings the lane motion and continuation through the pins on all conditions. Medium to low rev players will love the Froza SS because it will be a benchmark ball for you on house conditions and the go to ball on tournament conditions.

Likes: Smooth down lane motion; Strong Hook; Strong continuation through the pins.

Dislikes: None.

I recommend the Forza SS for all types of bowlers.

Bowler Stats:
Rev Rate – 425
Ball Speed – 17 mph (down-lane)
PAP – 3 ½ over, ¾ up

Test Environment:
PBA Scorpion 47’

Review:
I tested my Forza SS along with one of my Venom Shocks, mainly for both having solid coverstocks. Not having thrown any of the previous MOTIV balls with the Sigma Core before, I was quite excited to get this ball in my hands and on the lanes. I immediately noticed how much heavier the Sigma SS rolled in the middle part of the lane. Not only did it start make the turn a little earlier than expected, the signature continuous motion was more than I anticipated. Granted the layout I opted for my Sigma SS is quite stronger, this ball definitely gives me an option if I need to get a little further left. The Sigma SS for me gives me the roll I need like most solids up front, but shapes like a pearl on the backend.

Likes:
Great shiny or dull
Strong but predictable motion
Versatile Cover

Dislikes:
None

Summary:
The Sigma Core is back with some mean intentions. This core and cover combination is unbelievable, especially for those medium and heavy volume patterns, also for medium to long distance patterns as well. I instantly fell in love with mine. Shined up or with surface, the Sigma SS performs and doesn’t lose any bit of energy.

The Forza SS just like the rest of the Forza line will not disappoint. Bringing back the Sigma core with the new Helix HFS Reactive cover creates a smooth, strong, controlled ball motion. I have really liked the SS on heavier oil sport patterns when I have to keep the ball in front of me, the strong midlane roll picks up early and helps the ball from getting too far down the pattern. On house patterns the SS really controls the lane eliminating the “over under” we see all too much. I never see my SS over reacting off the dry. The SS is just an all-around great ball no matter what style of bowler you are or what kind of pattern you are bowling on.

The Forza SS is the latest ball in the forza line. For this ball Motiv brought back the sigma core and paired it with the Helix cover. For those who threw the original Forza this ball will be a great compliment. For me this ball is cleaner and more off the spot down lane then the original. It will be great for medium patterns and most typical house shots. It gives the great midlane roll that the forza line is famous for with just a little more down lane shape. Anyone who is looking for a bench mark ball should highly consider the Forza SS

Charcoal Solid/Red
Core: Sigma
Coverstock: Helix HFS Reactive
Finish: 3000 Grit LSS
RG: 2.47 (for 15# ball)
Differential: .047 (for 15# ball)
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Medium-Heavy Oil

Summary:  The Forza SS is the 4th installment of the Forza series and the 2nd with a solid cover, the Helix High Friction Solid Reactive makes the Forza SS the strongest and earliest of the four. The concept behind the  Forza SS was to develop a  ball that will provide versatility and plenty of hook potential and the SS does as advertised, out of box I found the SS to be very early and it let me know if the pattern had enough oil for it to serve its purpose.  I’ve had a lot of success with the Forza series and I love it for the consistency it gives me and the Sigma core is one of my all-time favorite cores.

In its natural state the SS is early and commands oil because of the amount of teeth the cover possesses, the roll is continuously heavy which I found ideal for when I encountered over/under conditions as the SS would roll right through it. In terms of hook I got more than what I bargained for as the original Forza never left me wanting for hook but the Forza SS gives me so much more, I love the SS at box.

The original Forza was controllable and early which made it ideal for medium heavy patterns, The Forza Redline provided a faster response time upon encountering friction as well as providing a more angular ball motion, The Forza GT provided a controlled ball motion, and the Forza SS is the strongest ball in the Forza series In comparing the Forza SS to my Ghost the Ghost is stronger overall, although the shape is similar to the SS the Ghost is earlier than the SS. It also possesses more overall hook and can handle more oil than the SS. In comparing the Forza SS to my Venom Shock I found the Shock to be cleaner than the SS overall and has a faster response time to friction than that of the SS, overall the Shock is smaller than the SS.

If you've got a love jones for the Forza series much like myself I encourage you give the Forza SS a moment of your time.

Your game will thank you for it.

Coverstock: Helix HFS Reactive
Finish: 3000 Grit LSS

Rev Rate: 425

Layout: 50 x 4 x 80, x-hole 3 inches down from PAP on VAL.

Lane Conditions: House (42'), Blue (40')

Review:

The sigma core is my favorite core of all time so I could not wait until this ball was released. I have been using it a few weeks now in two different leagues. The layout I chose was my benchmark pin down layout. This ball starts up very early and reads the midlane very strong. The 3000 grit finish on the Helix coverstock allows me to get 3 or 4 boards deeper than my other equipment with this same layout before needing to change balls to turn the corner.

The SS rolls much better for me on the 40' blue pattern which is flatter and heavier volume than the 42' house shot I compete on. On the 42' house pattern I see a little more over/under reaction than on the flatter condition. Luckily the Helix coverstock technology takes eaislly to surface changes. I have been able to smooth out the over/under reaction by taking the surface down to 1500 or 2000.

This ball will be a benchmark ball in my arsenal for a long time. I plan to drill at least one more with a pin up layout and add some shine so that when I begin to lose a little carry once I get too deep with the pin down one I can make the corner while maintaining a similar shape.

Before receiving this ball I did not know what to expect. I love the Forza GT, but I had never thrown a ball with the Sigma core. The Forza SS has been successful for me on medium/heavy oil conditions. Even with my lower rev rate I can see the ball getting through the oil and continuing through the pins, which can sometimes be a problem for us low rev players. I find it stronger and smoother going down lane than the GT. Ball motion is predictable which helps me line up on various patterns. I have used the SS on typical house shot as well as sport patterns and it did not disappoint. Anyone looking for a medium-medium/heavy ball, look no further than the Forza SS.
