- RG DIFFERENTIAL: 16#-.018, 15#-.025, 14#-.025, 13#-.030, 12#-.038, 11#-.22, 10#-.10
- FLARE POTENTIAL: 2"+ (Low)
- COVER STRENGTH: 25 (scale 1-100)
- CORE STRENGTH: 47 (scale 1-100)
- BOX FINISH STRENGTH: 10 (scale 1-100)
- Recommended Lane Condition: Light Oil or Short Oil Patterns
- A few tiny pit holes in the cover stock of the ball are normal
- DESCRIPTION: Plan a controlled strike against the competition with the MOTIV Recon RX1. It features the new Recon inner core and is armored with MOTIVator-X coverstock for a controlled reaction on light oil, or shorter oil patterns.
The Recon core drives the RX1 into the heat of battle. It provides a higher RG to control revs and a moderate differential to smooth out reaction down the lane. The 15# RX1 has an RG of 2.59 and a .025 diff.
The MOTIVator-X cover on the Reconâ„¢ RX1 compliments the core perfectly for attacking light oil conditions. It has a urethane-like reaction to tame friction on the lanes, yet still provides excellent recovery and hitting power.
The factory finish on the Bright Orange RX1 is 4000 wet sand with Power Gel Polish. This finish will provide easy length on light oil.

 Recon RX1 Silver

Core-Recon

Coverstock- MOTIVator-X Pearl

Finish- 4000 wet/sand with Power Gel Polish

Flare potential- 2-3 inches

The MOTIV Recon RX1 Silver is the 2nd release in the Recon series. The Pearl coverstock allows the ball to "smoothly" get through the heads and midlane. The RX1 Silver is a great compliment to the original orange Recon because it offers you alittle more length with less overall hook. This is a very good control ball when the backends are out of control. Like the original Recon, the RX1 Silver works best on drier lanes. This ball is very oil sensitive so keep this one in the bag until there is a wider area of friction on the lanes. You can use a more aggressive layout on this ball because it will allow more movement down the lane.

The RX1 Silver Pearl is a great addition for your bag when you need a go to ball on older wood lanes OR when the lanes are hooking out of the building.

LANE CONDITION

Length:40 ft

Volume: N/A

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):
THS, Cheetah

COMMENTS
The orange recon was little early where the new silver recon skips the front part of the lane with ease.  I drilled the ball 60 x 4 3/4 x 40, no hole.  The reaction I get is a clean through the fronts and midlane with a controllable backend reaction.  Long as I have clean backends on a THS I can start in the dry with it.  I tested the ball on a shorter pattern as well and the ball rolls great.  Even with the unique core shape the ball hits strong.
The graphix on the ball is remarkable, been asked if I was rolling a blue dot
I recommend this ball for tournament players looking for a dry lane ball or short patterns, I also recommend this ball for slower players looking for a ball to start with.  Another great addition to the Motiv Line

The  MOTIV Recon RX1 Silver Pearl is a great dryer lane piece of equipment. I  am a very high rev player and I am always standing way to the left side  of the lane, struggling to get the ball through the mid part of the  lane, that is until I drilled the MOTIV Recon RX1 Silver Pearl. This  ball allows me to stay in the dryer part of the lane and get the length I  need to get to the pocket a lot easier. I really like the the way the  MOTIV Recon RX1 Silver Pearl drives through the pins and keeps them low.  The carry with this ball is fantastic. Adding this ball to your arsenal  will make a positive difference......

Back End: Predictable continuous move toward pocket

Overall Hook: 3 (1-10)

Midlane Read: Good for a dry lane ball

Breakpoint Shape: Controlled

COMMENTS

Likes: Ball does exactly as advertised. Best when used on a drier or broken down shot, I've used in games 2-3 when no one else can get there balls down the lane, makes a great predictable move down on the lane and yet has a strong enough finish to blast the pins, typical Motiv ball.  A great compliment ball to all the aggressive stuff out there.  Check out my video and take a look at what this ball can do, I throw the Motiv Cruel at the end for comparison, it was about 5-6 boards less than my Cruel.

Dislikes: None so far, obviously not the best choice on oil, but can handle up to a medium oil pattern.

BALL REACTION

With the Recon Silver Pearl I put my favorite/benchmark layout on it.  The Motiv Recon Silver Pearl is decent through the front of the lanes.  It has a nice midlane read with a medium/smooth arc to the pocket.

COMMENTS

Likes:  Very nice smooth roll to the pocket.  I can play closer to the ditch and still hit this ball and will not see a big reaction on the backend.

Dislikes:  It seems to me the ball is speed sensitive.  A bit slow, and it reads the front and midlane way to early.  I'm chalking that up to the amount of revs I put on the ball.

This pearl version of the silver Recon is a great. I played tonight bewteen the first and second arrows with the box polished surface finish.  I've drilled the ball at zero with the pin up with no balnce hole.  The pin up is more skid snap and the pin down is smoother and stronger. The silver recon allow me to play the dry outside line on this short pattern with better success.  The silver recon gets down the lane. I bowl in practice two 279's so I thought that I would give it a try today during league practice.  I bowed 267, 237, and 250 for a 754.  I only moved one board to the left the entire night.  A must in your bag!

Dislikes:

Hard to get to the pocket on heavy oil or long patterns.

I love it when i can still throw this ball on the same line with ease making very little adjustment as the lanes get drier.

I also like the fact that the competetion says that it looks like a "Spare" ball when i pull it out of the bag then I beat them with it.

LANE CONDITION

Length: short (<37 feet)

Volume: low

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Cheetah, THS

COMMENTS

Likes: best dry lane ball on the market. no read of the mid lane, gets down the lane with ease.

Dislikes: anything but dry and short oil will prevent this ball from coming out of the back.

This piece is approximately 2-3 boards less than my orange RX1 and has less back end. It is very smooth and controllable. Even more so than my orange Recon. This is a perfect ball for drier patterns, burn squad, fresh short oil such as the cheetah, and for those bowlers who like to stay further right instead of moving deeper on the lane. The silver Recon RX1 enables the bowler to challenge the friction longer than any other ball on the market and it does it gracefully.

DRILLING

My specs are as follows: speed - 19 mph, rev rate - 350 rpm, axis tilt - 10 degrees, PAP - 3 3/8 over, 5/8 up.

The layout I used was a 50 x 3.5 x 70 with a hole in the P3 position. 7/8" bit drilled 2.5" deep was used for my extra hole. Surface has been at 4000, 1000/polish with power gel scuff, and is going to be left at 4000 with power gel polish (box finish)

I have tried just about every resin ball made for dry lanes from various manufacturers, and the Motiv Recon RX1 is by far the best. It gets through the heads with ease… but a lot of bowling balls do that. What makes the Recon shine is it’s smooth response off friction, and the gradual build up of momentum as it reaches the pins. It almost has a urethane type quality to it, but carry is superior to any urethane ball I’ve used.

I have a high rev rate relative to my ball speed (420rpm, 17mph). I used the Recon almost exclusively at PBA Regionals recently on Viper and Cheetah. What this ball allows me to do is start much closer to the dry than I normally able to, and play straight up the boards. As the patterns broke down, I found that I was able to make parallel moves left with my feet and target, keeping a similar trajectory up the boards. The other high rev guys had to move deeper inside much quicker than I, and play a much more angular approach to the pocket, which led to 2-8-10’s and 4 pins. There are times when a skid/flip reaction is best when the lanes open up, but not in these recent events.  I was able to keep the pocket in front of me, following the oil line as it moved in gradually for entire 8 game blocks – and was able to maintain my higher carry percentage rate.

During the tournaments I had several people ask me what I was throwing – in part because I was able to play a part of the lane that others who have a similar game to mine couldn’t play… and partly because this silver beauty just looks good rolling down the lane!

i threw this ball for the first time monday night 1/28/2013, pin is up and right of ring finger, cg in middle. i like to play the outside to in line, and on our house shot, this ball is better than advertised, the hitting power is awesome. I have a primal tv4 also, when it's too strong i will use the recon. i feel i have a great 1-2 punch and i will never own anything but "motiv".
