The next, best thing is here! The new MOTIV Primal Shock is the infusion everyone has been waiting for! With the use of the Turmoil MFS Solid cover seen on the GOAT of the Venom Shock, and the Impulse V2 core seen in the Primal Rage, the new Primal Shock combines the beloved reactions seen in these two pieces into one ball! Let me tell you, this was the perfect combination as this ball is very dangerous on the lanes! It gets down lane very well, and turns the corner hard! This ball will be perfect in league and when you're in need of help to get out of some trouble in league or at a tournament.

Layout - 5x4x3 Vector layout (translates to 45x5x50 Dual Angle)

Likes:  Shock Cover, Primal Core - Has A Calming Benchmark Feel

Dislikes: I'll let you know when I find one

Listen Up, For Months I have been raving about the Sky Raptor, Forge Ember, Pride Empire among a couple of others. Put them down, they have a place - but right now, In this moment. This is the one, this is the ball you need to be throwing. Let me explain

What you have here is the Cover from arguably the GOAT in the Venom Shock and have paired it with the Core from the Primal Series. Think about that, A ball shape similar to the Shock but with the pickup and drive of a Primal.

Its the first ball out of my bag. The predictability of the Shock Cover gives this a Calming Benchmark Feel but the Drive of the Primal Block answers the call of the last couple of years where on some occasions I felt my angles got a little to wide for the shock to be at it's best. I now get to keep that Feel but can open up the shape just a little more and what a feeling of power that provides. After a minor surface adjustment and getting some games / lane shine built into it I have been off to the races posting multiple series over 740 in the last handful of weeks.

I personally went with my Pin Above Bridge Layout and adjusted the Surface to 1500 SiaAir with a Towel Sheen Finish of Motiv Amplify on the ball spinner. This combination has allowed the ball clear the heads, read the mid lane but not burn out before the friction spot. As I said in my likes, It has a calming benchmark feel about it. I am on Motiv Staff but I do recommend this product to everybody twice daily to Motiv Maniacs.

Layout
   65 x 5” x 35

It’s as simple as one plus one equals two. Combining two phenomenal technologies into one ball, MOTIV has created an exceptional medium-heavy oil, staple piece with the Primal Shock. While the Turmoil MFS coverstock provides the traction and predictability from the Venom Shock, the Impulse V2 core from the Primal Rage creates a more dynamic ball motion both in the midlane and at the end of the pattern.

I laid my Primal Shock out with my standard ‘length’ layout so I could see what this cover/core combination could do. What I have seen so far is a versatile ball that can bite through the oil to find traction in the midlane but still retain energy to make a strong transition off the friction. Typically with equipment of this strength I see one or the other, but the Primal Shock somehow captures both. Starting on the fresh, this ball gives me good forgiveness in the oil because of the traction of the Turmoil coverstock. As the pattern breaks down and launch angles open up, the Impulse V2 core pushes the ball through the earliest friction, storing up enough energy for a pronounced motion at the breakpoint, or provides a strong recovery if I missed my mark outside. In comparison to my Venom Shock of the same layout, I see several more boards of strength at the arrows overall due to the higher differential, dual-density dynamics of the Impulse V2 creating more flare throughout the lane.

The name says it all, it’s both of those reactions in a single ball.  Wrapped around the proven Impulse V2 core from the Primal Series and some Supras is the proven core from a ball you may have heard of….the Venom Shock.  The Venom Shock has been a staple in the Motiv line for years and marrying these two components from two proven balls is what you would expect.

The difference between the Venom Shock and Primal Shock for me personally is that the Primal digs more in the oil and I’m able to use the ball to control the lane more front to back because of the higher DIFF.  Despite the lower RG in the Venom Shock, I have it as a cleaner option because of how stable the ball is through the front because of the lower flaring core.

I’d say the Primal Shock is one of the most versatile balls I’ve thrown in the Motiv line in a while.  I’d recommend it to anyone as a great benchmark option to fit in the middle of the bag!

Layouts on both Primal Shock and Venom Shock: 4.5 x 4.5 x 2

LANE CONDITION

Length:39

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):

The Primal Shock is a house shot killer. When the original shock is just a little soft off the spot the primal is the perfect replacement. Just as much hook in the middle with a little more shape down lane. Stores energy real well even on burnt shots. Similar line as the black venom but just a tad stronger.

Core: Impulse V2
Type: Symmetrical
Coverstock: Turmoil MFS Solid Reactive
Box Finish: 4000 Grit LSS
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CWWISN2zDA
Layout:  65 x 4½ x 30

Strengths
Primal Shock will provide you with more shape down lane to that of original Venom Shock and Pride.
Primal Shock has an early ball motion up front than Ripcord Launch, Pride Empire and Sky Raptor.
The solid coverstock finished at 4000 grit LSS allowed the Primal Shock to start hooking sooner than the Venom Shock as well as polished balls in the Motiv line, such as the Ripcord Launch, Pride Empire, and Sky Raptor.

Weaknesses
I was not successful using Primal Shock on heavier patterns at 4000 as the reaction was too clean for my liking,  there was not enough traction in the cover. If you choose to use Primal Shock on heavier patterns I was suggest straighten angles or taking the cover down, I simply chose to a bigger cover.

Overall Summary
The moment I threw Primal Shock for the 1st time I went into shock immediately loving what I saw, the Turmoil MFS Solid coverstock from the Venom Shock and the Impulse V2 core from the Primal Rage make it versatile and user friendly a variety of styles. At times I would want more overall hook from Venom Shock as well as more control, Primal Shock does as advertised.
Give some thought into going into Shock.

Your game will thank you for it.
