Primal TV4
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
CORE: Thrust
COVERSTOCK: Vicious Pearl Reactive
FINISH:   2000 and polished w/Power Gel
RG RATING: 15#-2.54
RG DIFFERENTIAL:   15#-.052
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil Patterns
- A few tiny pit holes in the cover stock of the ball are normal
DESCRIPTION: The Primal TV4 is an aggressive weapon for medium-heavy oil that features the latest coverstock technology from MOTIV. The Thrust inner core provides the Primal with a 2.54 RG and .052 differential on the 15# ball. It stores energy for the backend and produces tremendous track flare. The backend strength is boosted further with the new Vicious Pearl Reactive shell, which has aggressive motion, even in the oil carrydown. Finished to 2000 and polished with Power Gel, this is the strongest coverstock yet from MOTIV.
The NeoMark graphics on the Primal TV4 are everything you’ve come to expect from MOTIV. The yellow claw marks against the black and silver pearl shell are very striking. This ball has massive shelf appeal.

Primal TV4

Layout  60 x 4-1/2 x 30 no w/hole

Surface 2000 / power gel polish

First off let me start with saying THANK YOU to MOTIV for making the Primal TV4.   This ball became my Bench Mark Ball and will for every one that gets one.  This ball easily gets thru the head then picks up in the mid lade and has a very strong Arc on the back end.  The hitting power is far above average (let’s just say not one 10 pin all night long for 2 weeks in league).   The surface of the Primal is easy to adjust and will react to sanding and polishing very Good.  If you are looking for a ball that will open up the lanes then the Primal is the Ball you need.  The Core and Cover Combo is a perfect match for many lane conditions.   Motiv has built the go to ball that you have been looking for.    This will be my first ball out of my bag for all league and PBA Events.    The Primal Symmetrical core is found in the TR2/TR3 bowling balls.  The Thrust core fits all different bowling styles and it is very easy to fine tune for that perfect Reaction.  Then Motiv had the nerve to rap the Thrust core with the all New Vicious Pearl Reactive.  All I can Say is WOW what a Great Bowling Ball Motiv made.  Motivnation  It Is time to go Primal!

The new MOTIV - Primal TV4 - is one of the most versatile balls I have rolled in a long time. I drilled up two of these balls; one with the pin over my ring finger and the other with the pin under (closer to my PAP). The two different layouts compliment each other very well. The Primal TV4 has the same Thrust Core as the TX1 & TR2. MOTIV used a new coverstock called Vicious Pearl Reactive and it is very aggressive. The ball's box surface is 2K abralon, but I lowered both of my balls to 1K abralon to get them rolling a little earlier. The low RG core design offers revs through the front and midlane with consistent back end reaction at the breakpoint. The pealized cover and core combination provides a strong backend reaction from this MOTIV ball.

The Primal TV4 gives you an abundance of traction on medium lane conditions. The overall motion of the ball is strong and revs up easily in the midlane. This is a must have ball for your bag.

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):

COMMENTS

Layout:  pin under ring, cg kicked out @ 45, P3 hole  (my favorite drill pattern)
Surface: 2000 abralon, motiv gel polish
weight:  15.3, 2 3/4 tw to start
18 mph, 400- 425 rev rate

The Motiv Primal TV4, in this layout, is smooth thru the heads, and a moderate roll to the back-end.  The ball doesn't over react on the dry, and is very consitant when the lanes break down.
I have used this ball out of the box, and with different surfaces with/without polish.  Either way, this ball has the same motion once it picks up the roll, and like other Motiv balls, it hits with drive, and NO deflection.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 38 ft

Volume: 23 ml

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

Ball Layout: 4 1/4 x 3 pin is 2 1/8 above midline

My Observations: Extremely smooth, I love the Vicious Reactive Pearl Coverstock, It allows me to clear the heads but still have a nice controllable downlane reaction, As soon as the lanes started to get over/under I went to this ball and was able to get a very nice controllable read on the lanes. The coverstock on this ball is extremely versatile to sanding and polishing and will fit any bowling style. The Thrust core allows for sprectacular hitting power through the pins. After comparing the Primal to my SR2 this ball is 3-4 boards weaker than the SR2, It is a great ball to go to when I need to ball down or start to move inside. I just recently signed with Motiv and the more and more I keep throwing the more amazed I am getting with this company. Great Job MOTIV!

The new Primal TV4 from MOTIV gives bowlers the super controlable Thrust core with the new Vicious pearl cover. The combination allows the predictability and midlane strength of the Thrust Core to give a great motion early, while the pearl cover gives length to store that energy and be used for amazing hitting power.

This ball is not a heavy oil "soup" ball, or a dry lane skid/flip ball (cover tweeks can get it closer to either, though), but it is a great ball for most medium patterns, as well as, an awesome transition ball. What makes it perform so well is that the predictability of the core (ie. no over/under) gives you confidence to make good moves while the cover gives you enough strength to create a carry shape. Defidently a THS killer!!! I like the Primal best during the transition as the heads burn up, but still need a strong midlane ball to get thru the middle lane "puddle". I also completely believe this ball will probably be my first ball out of my bag in Reno at Nationals, due to the strong/clean back ends, but also where a very controllable, predictable roll is needed.

And add to all this, this ball JUST LOOKS AWESOME!!! Go get one today, and GET MOTIVated!

Likes: Very predictable roll due to the THRUST core combined with the new Vicious pearl cover stock. Also NeoMark graphics are just amazing to watch roll down the lane.

LANE CONDITION

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

BALL REACTION

Length: Starts up very quick from what I've seen so far

Back End: strong arc, covers more boards in the back than some other pieces in our line up.

Overall Hook: fits nicely between the TR2/Cruel (hook monsters) and the QZ balls. Slightly more overall hook than the SR2 in my opinion.

Midlane Read: very strong midlane read. This is one of our earlier rolling balls from my testing. Not as early as the 800 grit TR2, but certainly more so than the SR2 and balls below that.

Breakpoint Shape: corners in the backend more so than anything else I have, in fact it can come off the spot too hard for my liking sometimes.

COMMENTS

Likes: Very solid midlane with a lot of backend. When the lanes transition and my heavy/long oil balls begin to lose energy this is my go to ball. I can see this piece being a great compliment to my Cruel C 51 L.E. and that's how I intend to use it.

Dislikes: really clean backends will force this one back in the bag as it can just be too jumpy down lane.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 37' - 42'

Volume: Medium - Heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Both

COMMENTS

The Motiv Primal TV4 has a heavy rolling midlane with a late reving core. The cover is a high RA value pearl that loves to eat oil. This makes for a ball reaction that picks up early in the mids but has a strong backend. I love using this ball on medium oil sport shots and medium-heavy house shots. The backend control is unreal, and carrydown has never been an issue. I did an axis migration and found the ball to flare 6 inches with a 45x4.75x20 layout. This ball has become my go to all and the one I use the most right now. I've rolled some huge games and it's just a matter of time until I roll an honor score with it. I hope you enjoy this ball as much as I do.

Likes: This ball suprised me on the overall hook and continuation this ball has it is way stronger oob than i thought it would be and covers a ton of area. This ball like all motiv equipment hits hard and carrys above average. Out of all the equipment i bought this year this is one of my favorites. finally i am shocked at how easy it is to get this ball to rev up off my hand.
