Rogue Blade

The Rogue Blade features one of my absolute favorite cores in all of bowling, the Sigma Core wrapped around the all new Hexion SE cover !! This ball is here to play and it’s not messing around !! This ball out of box is clean through the front part of the lane with a devastating down lane reaction. I drilled mine with a 4 1/2 inch pin to pap and hit the surface with a 2000 Abralon. The Sigma core controlled the mid lane and the Hexion SE cover took care of the rest !! This ball is a true bench mark ball and will most definitely be in my bag for league and tournaments ! Ball is available August 22nd pre order yours TODAY !!!! GetMOTIVated.

MOTIV Bowling is at it yet again!! The Rogue Blade is packed with the Sigma core that was well received by Forza SS fans and to help it grip the lanes, MOTIV added the Hexion SE cover stock. This ball is designed to provide outstanding control through the mid-lane while having the authoritative response down lane you’d expect from the Sigma Core.

This ball is rather clean through the front part of the lane, responds quicker to friction than the Forza SS and the continuation gives me the ability to play larger angles.  With me being speed dominant and having a higher rev rate, I’m able to migrate in and play larger angles when needing to get around the puddle of oil in the middle and when the track burns up for us right handers.

There was an idea.
To bring together a group of remarkable people.
To see if they could create a better core.
So when bowlers needed a versatile benchmark it would fight the battles.
And they created the Sigma Core.

1.   SX1
2.   SR2
3.   Sigma Tour
4.   Sigma Hybrid
5.   Sigma Sting
6.   Rogue Blade

The Sigma Core has been a favorite to both the casual and competitive bowler due to its powerful versatility, within the Rogue Blade it has been merged with a low RG providing it with simplistic revs and continuous control in the mid-lane.  Wrapped around the Sigma Core is Hexion Strength Enhanced coverstock that builds upon the original angular coverstock,  Hexion Strength Enhanced is stronger in the oil and provides an earlier angular motion down lane. The ending result is a stronger motion than that of the original Hexion cover without the fighter sacrificing angularity.  Out of box the Rogue Blade comes at 4 grand.

There is nothing like having two things you love coming together for the greater good of your game, Sigma Core and Hexion. Designed to combat medium oil I have found the Rogue Blade suitable to handle medium-heavy patterns as well to an extent while at box surface and while it is a reasonable assessment to compare it to the Sigma Sting the Rogue Blade picks up sooner and has a heavier mid-lane presence, in my bag the Rogue Blade is in between my Trident Quest and Lethal Paranoia.  If you are a fan of the Sigma Core then you’re also a fan of mid-land ball motion and the Rogue offers just that, it being angular down lane is what I consider to be a bonus.  When it became time for me to open up my angles cornering and deflection wasn’t an issue and this is where the ghost of the Sigma Sting reared its head as it to was excellent at cornering, however it wasn’t great at doing so it heavy oil in my hands as the Rogue Blade.  Once the Rogue Blade serves it purpose it’s very easy and convenient to ball down to either the Venom Shock Pearl or the Hydra depending on the ball motion you desire, as a fan of mid-lane presence I ball down to the Venom Shock Pearl.

Another weapon crafted by Muskegon that does as advertised on the desired condition.  If you’re a fan of controlled continuation I encourage you take a look at the Rogue Blade.

Your game will thank you for it.

Review:

The Rogue Blade is the latest release from MOTIV Bowling. The Rouge Blade brings MOTIV’s most popular cores and a new cover stock together that makes the Rouge Blade one of the strongest, angular pieces in the medium category. With the proven Sigma Core and pair is with the new Hexion SE cover stock, the Rouge Blade provides easy revs with excellent control in the mid lanes with a stronger response down lane and continuation through the pins just as strong as any of the MOTIV releases. If you loved the original Sigma’s then the Rouge Blade is the bowling ball for you.

Weight Block         Sigma
Cover Stock          Hexion SE
Finish                   4000 Grit LSS

Comments:

All I really have to say is this is the Sigma Tour on steroids. Your welcome. All kidding aside though the Rouge Blade is just an absolute joy to throw. A medium oil bowling ball shouldn’t hook this much but it does and its very controllable as well which makes it an absolute winner from MOTIV. And to me, the Rogue Blade is the Sigma Tour on steroids because it’s everything the Sigma Tour was, versatile, easy revs in the mid lane, long and angular down lane, and continuation as good as any. But what makes it on steroids is it just flats out hooks. Higher rev players will love the Rouge Blade because it’s something we can throw on longer, heavier patterns as well as on league patterns on fresh. Medium to lower rev players will love the Rogue Blade because is something there always looking for in hook potential without breaking there wallet.

Likes: Versatility; strong, angular motion down lane; continuation through the pins at its finest.
Dislikes: None

I recommend the piece to all types of bowlers.

Rouge Blade
So Ive finally had an opportunity to reflect on my last 4 PBA50 events and the one thing that truly stands out to me is that the Rouge Blade is a REALLY GOOD BALL. The versatility truly stood out as the patterns used at these events ranged from 41 to 45 ft in length with varying volumes matching those of the toughest PBA patterns. Scoring pace ranged from crazy high in Anderson Indiana to CRAZY Low at the PBA50 Cup in Wyoming Michigan. Even though the scoring pace varied the one thing that remained the same was the versatility and effectiveness of the Rouge Blade. I used 2 of my favorite layouts with pin up and pin down positions while hitting the pin down version with 1000 prior to competition start. The ability of this piece to see the breakpoint over the wide array of patterns allowed me to easily transition throughout the 16 game block on within all events. The length and consistency of the shape this piece provides is truly what makes it a great piece for sport shot events as well as your typical house pattern on league night. The ability to consistently get through the fronts while not over reacting on the friction is possibly the most important factor of a versatile piece. By hitting the surface with 1000 on the pin down piece it easily provided me with 2 balls to cover both the fresh oil as well as a piece to start with on the burn event patterns prior to moving on to something additionally at the end of the burn. If you truly want something as a go to ball the Rouge Blade will not disappoint!

The Rogue Blade gives me the ball I have been dreaming of since we brought back the Sigma Core with the Forza SS.

This ball combines that Low RG with our new Hexion Cover to give me control of the middle part of the lane with some angularity down lane.

This ball has proven for me that it can be good with any surface on it. Polished, this ball clears the fronts and gets going sideways down lane. While with some surface this ball allows me to really control the middles and throw it in some oil.

This ball is the first ball out of my bag and complements the villain perfectly with being a step down while being a step up from the Hydra.

This ball is the newest introduction into the MOTIV line of bowling balls. The MOTIV Rogue Blade features the combination of the new Hexion SE (Strength Enhanced) cover stock combined with the proven Sigma core which has been a favorite amongst competitive and casual bowlers for years due to its versatility and incredible power.  This masterfully combines outstanding control in the mid-lane with a powerful response down lane.  Most importantly, it features the continuation through the pins that MOTIV balls are becoming known for.

It will be a great fit in your bag on medium oil.  With the merging of a moderate differential with a low RG, it provides the Rogue Blade with easy revs and outstanding control in the mid-lane. The Rogue Blade will become that ball you can count on when you need to control of the mid-lane, but are still looking for a strong backend reaction.

My Rogue Blade is laid out pin down (below my ring finger), the cg shifted to the right (no extra hole).  This ball has already found a place in my bag and drives through the pins with easy from any angle.  If you are looking for a ball to control the mid-lane without sacrificing backend reaction, has continuation and awesome hitting power.  Look no further, you've found it.

All right!  All right!

Weight Block: Sigma
Coverstock: Hexion se
Grit: 4000 lss
Dif: .047 15lb

Bowler:
Hand: Left
Speed 17.5-18.5
Rev rate 370-420
Pap 4 3/4 over 1/16 up

Introducing the all new Motiv Rogue Blade! This ball has one of my favorite cores ever produced from any company! The Sigma Core! What got me hooked on this core was the SR2 from Motiv about 8 or 9 years ago! That ball instantly became a favorite of mine and now Motiv has truly outdone themselves by slapping the Hexion SE coverstock! This coverstock is very clean through the fronts but the SE (basically supercharged from the original Hexion cover) provides better traction through the oil while still having a superfast response to friction downlane.
The Rogue Blade is extremely versatile. Even with it being so clean in thr fronts, the sigma core still allows the ball to read the mids very nice.

The Rogue Blade for me is a great ball to switch to once my Venom Shock becomes a little too early and I need to switch to something cleaner through the fronts.

The layout I chose for it was a 30x5x30. We chose a stronger layout because of my fast ball speed. My speed is generally between 17.5-18.5 and this layout allows me to stay in my comfort zone and not have to worry about throwing my ball past the breakpoint.
However I feel that you could prpobably put any layout on this ball and it would still strike regardless. This ball is just THAT GOOD!

The Sigma is Back!

Layout:
   65 x 5 x 35

The Sigma core is back in mighty fashion in the Rogue Blade. By wrapping this 2.47RG, .047Diff motor in the brand-new Hexion SE coverstock (4000LSS) we get the dependable motion we have come to expect with some explosive pop to finish. The intent of this ball is to fit into the medium oil range; I have found it to do that plus have the ability to create traction in medium to heavy volume. While the midlane read is consistent with every other Sigma ball I have thrown (which I believe to be the best in the game), the new cover system provides unprecedented backend movement and continuation. The moment the Rogue Blade finds the dry it makes a pronounced move towards the pocket with no hesitation; this quickness can create more advantageous angles than something a little more sluggish at the spot. I drilled mine to give me a little extra push down the lane as the typical house shots I see are in the medium range. Even with this longer pin I can easily throw this ball from start to finish. The cover is stronger than anything else MOTIV has put in this reaction category yet there is no sacrifice of energy retention with larger angles. I have been able to play anywhere from straighter and outside of ten board to looping it through fourth arrow. Versatility is key in any benchmark ball, and the Rogue Blade fits that mold wonderfully. So long as you are not trying to throw this in some soup, or on a desert, you will find this ball can just about do it all.

The Rogue is a Monster....

I drilled my Rogue 65 X 4.75 X 60. This is one of the three drilling's I have been using since the USBC has come out with their changes to the weight hole requirement. This leaves the pin under the bridge and the GC kicked out about a 1/2" from my grip line. The reason I chose this lay out is the lay out allows the ball to see the lane in the middle and roll off the spot. As anyone who has read most of my reviews over the years I am a fan of mid lane shape. To me the lay out allows me more miss room and removes the over under we typically fight on today's lane patterns when they get cliffed.

My initial ball drilled with Motiv was the OG Sigma Tour, I have been enamored with the Sigma core ever since. I have a friend of mine that calls it the Turkey core, basically looks like a large turkey inside the ball. The Sigma core has been one of my favorites with the low RG and the Medium Diff, this core is strong and continuous. Now add a pearl cover that goes through the fronts and still sees the middle part of the lane with back end continuation. You have a true winner.

The combination of big core and strong pearl cover allows the ball to me to use the Rogue on longer patterns and some volume as well. The over all shape is what I would describe as smooth hockey stick. The cover clears the fronts as long as there is enough volume, the Rogue will tell you when there is not enough volume. As the core begins to take over in the middle part of the lane, the cover is working well with core and allows the Rogue to start the shape. The over all continuation through the lane and the pin deck is tremendous. The Rogue will let you chase the pattern and doesn't seem to loose hitting power as long as the pattern has some volume. I am impressed with this ball and look forward to adding this nugget to my tournament bag for the foreseeable future.

My review on the Motiv Rogue Blade,

I wanted a ball stronger the my Venom shock so I drilled this ball with a 4 1/2 pin to pap.  This ball for me has been completely what I was looking for, it rolls up earlier then the VS and stronger off the spot.

This ball for me is a benchmark shape that I like, defiantly not rolly.  If your looking for ball with some shape in the backend this ball is for you.

The Sigma core has been a favorite for years because of its versatility and amazing power. Combining a moderate differential with a lower RG, the Rogue Blade provides outstanding control in the mid-lane.
The Rogue Blade is wrapped with MOTIV’s new Hexion SE (Strength Enhanced) cover stock. This new shell is an upgrade from the original Hexion cover.  Hexion SE is stronger in the oil and gives a faster response down lane. The result is a greatly stronger motion without giving away angle.

This ball gets through the front part of the lane, starts up in the mids and smooths out on the backend. This gives me a controllable and predictable ball motion that I see myself utilizing on a variety of patterns. The Rogue Blade will most likely be the first ball I pull out of the bag and will give me a great look on the lanes! Order yours today and #GetMOTIVated
