Here's my video for the new Ascent Solid.  These two balls are great additions to the MOTIV line.  The solid is much stronger than any entry level ball I can remember throwing.  The recon core shines in these two releases.  These give bowlers high performance at a great entry level price point.

Ascent Solid
The Ascent Solid is one of MOTIV’s first true entry level balls, the other being the also newly released Ascent Pearl.  Since I tend to be speed dominant, I am typically not one that gets a lot of use from balls designed for lighter conditions.  Let me say the Ascents DO NOT hit like entry level balls.  Bowlers of all levels will find it beneficial to have an Ascent in their bag.

Depending on the surface and layout, bowlers might be able to use this one on anywhere from a heavier condition all the way to a lighter condition.  There are not too many balls that can cover than many conditions, especially at an entry level price point.  To give a comparison the Ascent Solid is cleaner through the front of the lane compared to the Thrash, but to me it had more torque when encountering friction.  This release will be a nice transition when the Thrash is just too early, as the Ascent Solid will naturally be longer and stronger.

You can see my video here:

I would recommend either Ascent to anyone who is looking to purchase a quality ball at a VERY affordable price.  You also have two choices, the Solid Ascent (Red/Blue) for those who could use a little help getting the ball to cover more boards and the Pearl Ascent (Pink/Purple) for those who aren’t looking for a lot of overall hook.

Your climb to the top starts here! The Ascent Solid features a solid formulation of the Motivator-Z coverstock (featured in the QZ series) and the proven Recon core. The Ascent solid comes out of the box at 1000 wet sand and is ideal for the bowler upgrading from entry-level plastic balls, or the avid bowling looking for an ultra-smooth ball reaction on medium to dry lanes.

I have drilled one Ascent solid (50 x 4.75 x 70) putting the pin below my bridge, the cg is shifted to the right, and I have a small weight hole placed 2” below my PAP on the VAL. This ball for me out of the box is great on a fresh house shot, as well as shorter oil tournament patterns (cheetah, viper) when I need to project my ball on a straighter line. With polish, this ball is even greater on the shorter tournament patterns, and is awesome when the lanes begin to hook during league. I like to refer to the Ascent solid as the “baby Thrash”

With the previous statement above, the ball motion of the Ascent solid is similar to the Thrash, just a zone weaker. In comparison to the Recon RX-1/QZ2 Blue/Black, the Ascent solid will be more of an arc reaction, hooking earlier and less down lane than the Recon. The Ascent solid is a wonderful addition to the MOTIV line, providing the bowler with a very smooth reaction for shorter oil tournament patterns, or tougher patterns when bowlers experience over/under or wet/dry conditions.

Elevate your game with the new Ascent line! The Red/Blue Solid Ascent features the MOTIVator-Z cover from the QZ2 and the proven Recon core.  The Ascent solid cover and dull finish reads earlier on the lane and produces a strong, smooth arc toward the pocket.

Finally, MOTIV is introducing our first ever product at the entry level price point.  The new Ascent Pearl and Solid are simply amazing.  Do not let the term "entry level" fool you, as that is simply referring to the cheaper price point.  The All NEW Ascent Line gives you alot of "bang for your buck".  I recently drilled both my Ascent Pearl and Ascent Solid.

The Ascent Solid is a ball I am really starting to like more and more.  The solid provides a much earlier read than the pearl courtesy of the solid cover and stronger box cover.  However, even though the solid reads the lane earlier it still gets the heads fairly clean and allows you to control the midlane with a smooth continuous backend reaction.  I love how versatile the solid is versus the pearl.  I can play multiple angles on fresh because of the stronger cover and surface on the solid can handle a higher volume of oil compared than the pearl.  I personally like to start with the solid and as the break down forces me left and I then like to open the lane up with the pearl.  As most MOTIV releases, these balls hit very hard and keep the very low.  At this price point, you can NOT find a better product.  Bowlers of all levels with be completely satisfied and ready to become MOTIVated after throwing the ALL NEW Ascents.  Get MOTIVated!!!!

The Bowler:
Ball speed = 17
Rev Rate = 400
PAP = 5 ¾, 3/8 up

The Ball: Motiv Ascent Solid
Surface = 2000 grit

The Ascent solid is a strong and smooth entry level bowling ball. If you’re looking for a cost effective solid bowling ball with the peace of mind that you’ll have a controlled reaction on tougher patterns consider the Ascent solid. This ball is also affective in the hands of strokers looking to take control on medium light oil. I love the solid on short and medium sport patterns playing up the outside without giving up backend angle and carry. On house shots I usually play the Ascent solid inside the oil line blending out the wet dry without over reacting. I was able to move in deep with the solid but when I got in to far I hit its limit and started leaving corner pins and washouts.

In closing: I give it two thumbs up for someone dabbling in sport patters or blending out wet dry house shots.

When you think of entry level, you don't think about getting so much ball at a entry level price.
The Ascent Solid uses the proven Recon symmetrical core and the MOTIVator-Z Solid cover.
The high RG helps get the ball down the lane, and the low flare from the core keeps the Ascent
Solid from making too fast of a move at the backend. The move at the friction is more arcing.
The solid cover and 1000 wet/sand surface makes the breakpoint smooth. The 1000 grit surface
grips the lanes early, but doesn't hook left early. It still clears the heads with ease and the smooth
breakpoint reaction helps control over-under reaction. This ball is all about control.

Dislikes:

Rolled this ball on a couple of times. In box finish (1000 wet sand) it evened out the house shot and made a nice move to the pocket. When the lanes got really dry the 1000 grit finish would not let the ball get down the lane. But thats what the Pearl is for.

This ball worked best for me on freshly oiled lanes, it blended the oil pattern perfectly no over under. You get high performance at an entry level price.

Bowler Specs:

Ball Speed: 18.5-19 MPH
Rev Rate: 375-400 RPM
Axis Tilt: 8 degrees
PAP: 4 1/4 LEFT, 3/4 UP

Layout: 30 x 4 x 60 with hole on PAP (1" bit, 2.5" deep)

The Ascent Solid joins the Ascent Pearl to provide two different ball motions at an entry level price point. The Solid comes out of the box with a lot more surface texture and therefore really grips the lane. However paired with the Recon core, this ball doesn't start up too early and quit.

I have had the most success with the Solid Ascent on some flatter, shorter patterns particularly the WTBA Beijing (35 feet) and WTBA Los Angeles (36 feet), as well as local THS.

I can really control the break point and manipulate my reaction. I tend to be a little speed dominant so I use this piece more often than the Ascent Pearl. I really like the shape that this ball creates and it is just another asset to my arsenal.

**Ascent Solid**

INNER CORE: Recon™
COVERSTOCK: MOTIVator-Z™ Solid Reactive
FINISH: 1000 Wet Sand
15# SPECS: RG: 2.59, DIFF: .025

It is hard to believe that a ball with an entry-level price point can perform like the Ascent Solid. This unique ball is very patient through the heads allowing you to get to the breakpoint with the amount of energy to make you say "WOW!!!!" as it goes through the pins. It is very smooth and controllable once it reads the friction. Being the Ascent Solid has a more aggressive cover stock than the Ascent Pearl, this ball is not afraid to get wet. I can start with this ball on a fresh oil pattern because of its ability to preform in oil and its versatility allows me to move left and finish the night with it as well.

I have never thrown a ball at this price point that does what this ball CAN and WILL do for you.

This ball is very versatile and whether you are a beginner, average or above average player, this ball will fit nicely into your arsenal. At the price you can get one for, you should get 3. :)

Now is the time, start your climb to the top with the Ascent Solid and get MOTIVated!
