Be an Alpha on the lanes with Motiv's high performance Alpha Jackal bowling ball. This ball exceeds expectations by producing more hook but with control and crushing continuation. This ball is an updated version of what it's predecessors offered. This ball has a stronger solid reactive coverstock in the Coercion HV3 than any other Jackal to date. The core in the Alpha Jackal is the Predator V2 asymmetric weight block which maximizes revs as well as track flare through the low RG and high differential. This ball matches up well with bowlers that want traction on heavily oiled lanes or longer oil patterns.

Review:

The new Alpha Jackal is the latest release from MOTIV Bowling. Bringing together the same core that MOTIV fans loved from the Jackal Ghost with a much stronger cover that makes the Alpha Jackal the strongest bowling ever made from heavy oil from MOTIV. The Alpha Jackal brings back the Predator V2 core with the Corecion HV3 Solid cover stock gives players traction on heavy oil with high flare and just flat out hook on heavy oil makes the Alpha Jackal a must in anyone’s bag.

Weight Block       Predator V2
Cover Stock        Corecion HV3 Solid Reactive
Finish                 2000 LSS

Comments:

The Jackal Ghost is by far my favorite of the Jackal line. That ball just works on anything for me and still use it today when the time is right. However, The Alpha Jackal is starting to take the cake for me from this line. I love the shape it give my plus is just flat out hooks and doesn’t stop. It has bailed me out in tournaments as well as when I see over/under during league because it just bails me out. You want hook but also continuation without burning up then the Alpha Jackal is the bowling ball for you. High rev players will love this bowling ball because of what I just said. Medium to lower rev players will love this piece because they will feel comfortable moving in without the risk of leaving corner pins because of the continuation that Alpha Jackal provides.

Likes: Flat out hook; continuation through the pins.
Dislikes: None

I recommend this piece for all types of bowlers

Layout:
   90 x 4” x 25

Sporting a bold purple and blue veneer, this heavy oil entry into the MOTIV lineup is sure to turn a few heads. The Coercion HV3 solid reactive coverstock (finished at 2000LSS) provides exceptional traction capabilities to bite through heavier volumes while the trusty Predator V2 asymmetric core (2.47RG, .054Diff) delivers ridiculous flare potential to aid in creating fortuitous entry angles into the pocket. The sheer power this combination delivers is nothing short of impressive.

I used my typical ‘Predator’ layout as this has given me the best results from this core throughout its history. By placing the pin at 4” I give myself quite a bit of the power that the V2 offers; this is shown in the 6+ inches of flare I get. In contrast, with a 90° drilling angle I am telling the ball to stay in the hook phase longer thereby creating a bit more push through the mids. By putting these two measurements together I get an extremely controllable, predictable motion out of the Alpha that drives through heavier volumes and displays devastating hitting action all the way to the pit.

With most equipment of this strength you end up with limited usage. As the fronts go, your angles open, and then the ball starts to chug as it tries to spend more energy turning the corner. This iteration of the Jackal, however, does not want to give up and finds a way to go deeper into the set. On a typical league night I start laying down 24 crossing 18, already a 5-3 more than my Forge Fire. I can make multiple moves left, go through the transition, and get into launch angles that I would typically have to put a ball of this strength away. So far I have been able to be as left as laying down 33 crossing 24 without compromising the drive power this release has. This showcases, what I think is, the best attribute of this ball: its sheer versatility. On top of that shot-line ability, the way you can see this ball read the mids gives a strong sense of control and confidence when you’re trying to predict moves to stay ahead of the transition. Not to be underrated, the motion down lane is also not to be trifled with. I see a strong, but not snappy, transition that retains enough energy to drive through the eight-pin with regularity. I honestly did not think I would have such a backend reaction out of a piece this strong, but I am delighted by its presence. When I do eventually get to where my reaction is struggling, it is an easy transition to ball down into the Forge Fire or even the Tank Blitz. Being able to have multiple balls that compliment each other in the bag makes for a great advantage when all those transitions come.

Be the leader of your pack and grab an Alpha Jackal!

PAP: 4 ¾ x ¾
60x5x70

This is 2nd review for a Motiv ball since joining the Staff and once again…I am extremely happy with what I seen from this ball. This is pin down under my index finger and the MB being just over 2 inches out from the midline…close to a RICO layout. Once again…no surprises at all. The reaction I seen was a strong arc…very smooth…not too jumpy on the backend. I found myself 5 and 3 left from my Rogue Assassin and popped a 258 ( 4 pin and 10 pin ) the very 1st game on our THS. I truly felt I could just wheel it right and it would come back from anywhere…Amazing!!

Core: Predator V2
Coverstock: Coercion HV3 Solid Reactive
Finish: 2000 LSS
Layout 40 x 4 ½ x 30

Alpha Jackal (noun): 1. Reigns supreme on heavy oil. 2. Creates traction in places where the previous Jackals could not featuring Coercion HV3 Solid Reactive cover stock. 3. One that utilizes the Predator V2 asymmetric weight block that boasts a very low RG and loads of differential. 4. 2000 grit LSS box finish.

Strengths

Alpha Jackal provided me with a lot of midlane hook and down lane motion. As the lanes transitioned I chased the oil left and didn’t sacrifice pin carry or angle, Alpha definitely has enough muscle when it comes to cornering.

Alpha Jackal creates a lot of traction in the midlane despite it reading so early.

In terms of recovery Alpha Jackal is second only to Golden Jackal, on longer/heavier patterns I consider it a luxury to have miss-room Alpha Jackal provides me with.

Alpha Jackal provides more midlane hook than the Golden Jackal and more angularity than the Rogue Assassin. For total hook, only the Trident Abyss can cover as many boards as the Alpha Jackal, but it is much smoother down lane.

Weaknesses

Coercion is going to Coercion and Coercion isn’t found of low volume patterns or short oil conditions.  The natural aggressiveness of Alpha Jackal will require surface adjustments to be used on such conditions to an extent.

Summary

Alpha Jackal uses the same Predator V2 core that was featured in the Jackal Ghost however it features new Coercion HV3 Solid Reactive coverstock, it comes at a box finish of 2000 which give it enough muscle in heavier oil paired along with its low RG core. The 2000 grit LSS box finish, solid coverstock, and low RG core design all allow the Alpha Jackal to create plenty of traction in the midlane.

Despite its earlier read Alpha Jackal still retains enough energy at the back end.  Paired with Trident Abyss which is possess as smooth ball motion as well Alpha Jackal provides the most total hook in overall.

I encourage you to take a look at the Alpha Jackal as I promise you it is worth your time and does as advertised, become an Alpha Male by sending Alpha Mail across the pin deck.

Your game will thank you for it.

COMMENTS

Likes: If you are a fan of the Ghost you are going to love the Alpha! Just when you thought Motiv couldn’t improve on something, they found a way to do it. Taking the Coercion HV3 cover from the Tridant Abyss and wrapping it around the Jackel core did just that. It’s like nothing I have ever seen for heavy oil. I have loved throwing it in league but it’s going to be an even bigger monster on the higher volume patterns. For a big Asymmetrical solid it doesn’t quit. It has great continuation through the pins which I am getting use to seeing coming from Motiv. Don’t be confused though, it’s going to be great  for a ton of different types of bowlers as well as a multitude of house shots! This is a must have.

The Alpha Jackal,
So as everyone knows by now this is the most recent release in the famous jackal series from Motiv. Normally I do my reviews very shortly after receiving the ball and this time around I wanted to get a bunch of games on the ball so I could be a little more in-depth with what I'm seeing from the motion of the ball and my likes dislikes. So let's start off with my layout. I did my favorite Asym pin-up layout which is a 60*5*30 THis normally gives me good length and still has lots of power down lane.
Using that layout I left the jackal at its box finish which is about a 2k abralon finish. This ball got down the lane much easier than I thought it would be that it has such a strong cover. Shape wise downlane is tougher to explain it's not as long and snappy as the ghost and not nearly as early as a jackal rising.  So I've put I dunno about 60 games on this ball so far and man its been pretty solid for me so far. It lets me open the lanes on higher volume house shots and lets me get in the middle of the lane when I move left on dryer lanes.
As I've owned it the ball has got well kinda dirty. That has been easily resolved. Anytime the ball gets some lane shine on it I just hit it with a fresh 2k pad and its back to normal!
All and all this is what you would expect from a High-performance piece of equipment. It loves the heavier volumes and has plenty to offer downlane for such a big hooking ball!

The Alpha Jackal has been a staple in my bag since it was released. With the same Predator V2 core as the Jackal Ghost, and a stronger Coercion HV3 Solid Reactive cover stock, the Alpha Jackal provides me with an earlier and rounder shape in heavier oil conditions than the original Ghost.

Even though the Alpha Jackal is very strong in the middle part of the lane, it's very continuous and doesn't give up any energy down lane through the pins. This ball is also great for the house shot puddle because it allows you to get into the oil without any worry. If you don't already have the Alpha Jackal in your bag, visit your local pro shop and pick one up today!

The Alpha jackal is the newest addition to the jackal line. It has the predator V2 core along with the Coercion HV3 Solid Reactive cover. This ball is extremely smooth going down the lane, but it also shows it's strength on the backend of the lane and this continues through the pins. This piece is one of my go to pieces when the lanes are playing wetter or on the longer volume patterns. This ball should be in your bag if you are planning on bowling on longer patterns with higher volumes of oil.

The alpha jackal is hands down one of the best asymmetrical balls I’ve ever seen. I’ve drilled two of them so far. The first one being 50x5.5x20, and the second one being 50x4x20. I drilled them both so close to the fact that I absolutely love this layout on this ball. For an asymmetrical it is extremely clean through the fronts for me and has a much faster response than I anticipated. The second one we drilled up to roll just a tad sooner since the first was a little cleaner than anticipated. Comparing this ball to the Jackal rising, I would definitely say this ball is much cleaner ,faster and stronger overall. This is a must have in your arsenal and can be used on any condition.
