Motiv designed the Ripcord to offer as much angle and continuation through the pins as they possibly could. This ball is a great choice when you need something that will generate downlane motion when facing medium oil conditions. The Ripcord performs well when the oil in the front part of the lane has decreased forcing you to move in to generate angle. The Infusion Pearl Reactive coverstock on this ball offers easy length with awesome down lane motion. The Oblivion core with a massive flip block found in the Ripcord was designed to generate downlane motion as well as angle and continuation through the pins.

Weight Block: Oblivionâ„¢
Cover Stock: Infusionâ„¢ Reactive
Finish: 5000 LSP
Length: 16.5
Backend: 18.5
Hook: 53
Flare Potential: 5+

Ripcord
/ˈripkôrd/
Noun:

1. Weaponry that possesses the pearl Infusion coverstock technology with a reactive cover that  gives easy length with incredible down lane motion,  a  cover that is tuned for today’s higher viscosity oils to provide length without risking the ball slipping through the breakpoint.

2. Weaponry that possesses the Oblivion core known for creating as much angle and continuation through the pins as possible.  The massive flip block on the bottom of the Oblivion core only adds to the angle it creates.

Ball Reaction

Swift angularity.  Ripcord will get you down lane however once it sees what it wants to see it’s swiftly going left (or right) and roll up is even which is to be expected considering Oblivion is at the center.  If you’re playing on high friction conditions higher ball speeds will enjoy watching Ripcord’s swift backend motion, as long as you have the courage to move left Ripcord has enough angularity to recover. To those with lower ball speeds will see Ripcord’s swiftness at an earlier rate and if that is not to your liking I recommend our hi-gloss polish, that will keep the Oblivion core from starting up earlier than desired.

The layout in my Ripcord is 68 x 4 x 45.  Out of box Ripcord is just as advertised being swift and angular, as the friction increased so did my angles and projection.  As the midlane friction increased so did the presence of the Oblivion core and at that point I had the option of moving left or I could ball down, I often chose to continue to move left because of the continuation the Oblivion core provides me with. At no point did I feel as if Ripcord would not recover and as swift as the angularity is within Ripcord it wasn’t knifing through the pin deck playing sharp angles.

Strength: The back end reaction is what makes the Ripcord great. Ripcord offers substantial continuation off the breakpoint and does not stop.

Weakness: On longer patterns can push Ripcord too far down the lane before it sees enough friction to turn over.

Summary

Infusion does as advertised.  Oblivion does as advertised. Ripcord does as advertised.  Motiv has a long track record of creating weaponry that does as advertised , something I love about this company. Ripcord will provide you with as much angularity as you desire as long as you are willing to play the angles you desire.

Ripcord can fill a number of spots in the your bag as it can be  used as a skid/flip ball on the fresh for medium length patterns, or as the weapon to go into when bigger weapons  like Trident Abyss start hooking too early and become too smooth down lane.

Ripcord serves me well as my angular benchmark to the even counterpart to my T10 and it will tell me if the part of the lane I want to play is open to me or not, only on heavier conditions was the Ripcord not as useful as I wanted it to be however that is why I have Abyss and Golden Jackal.   If you are in the market for what I call swift angularity I would encourage you give Ripcord a look and when you do Rip It.

Rip It good.

Your game will thank you for it.

Layout:
   55 x 5” x 40

On medium conditions, fresh or after the first transition, and want a ball where you can just let it rip? Insert the MOTIV Ripcord here. The introduction of this ball into the current lineup provides the most flipping action within the ball motion chart seen in quite some time. To achieve such a dramatic skid/snap reaction, the proven Oblivion core (2.53RG, .047Diff) has been wrapped in the new Infusion Reactive coverstock (5000 LSP).

Working under such expectations, I laid my Ripcord out with the intention of taking advantage of the core’s power (thank you dual density) while making sure to get a quick response off of the spot; this ball exceeded those expectations. My trial run for this came out in Vegas during the doubles portion of the minors event. On this longer-medium pattern I was initially having difficulties with my strong equipment hooking early and my other step-down pieces being a little slower, so I grabbed this ball to see what it’s backend power could do and, thankfully, it saved me. Getting down the lane cleanly allowed the Ripcord to really take advantage of the friction it could find downlane, which was before the end of the oil as the Infusion coverstock has just enough teeth to bite through the thinner parts of such patterns. The response time at the breakpoint was truly impressive, transitioning to the roll to hook phase dynamically. While not swinging the ball dramatically, I was able to get around fourth arrow and watch this ball tip back into the pocket with enough power to drive all the way through the 8-pin. When I did eventually have to get out of this ball it was because I needed to blend out the backend a little, something the Ripcord did not want to do as it kept its impressively-strong backend performance going.

When I got back from the OCs, I tested the Ripcord on a slightly used house pattern. Once again, I was shown that this is not a straight down-and-in ball, but rather one that loves opening up the lane. The back end on this piece may be the sharpest I have thrown in quite some time which allows for some extreme, and deep, angles to be utilized as a pattern breaks down. I started that particular transition practice laying down 22 and crossing at 16. By the end of my quick three-game set I was already at 32-22 and there was still no quit in this ball; I could have had at least another one to two games before I would have had to transition to a Venom-line ball.

Overall this ball fills its Medium-Oil/Angular Motion spot on the MOTIV chart perfectly. While the Ripcord can be used on fresher medium-volume patterns, its true colors shine when you can start getting left and give it some room to the friction.  Whether this is thrown on house or sport conditions, I believe this ball fills a vital spot in anyone’s arsenal.

The MOTIV Ripcord has been extremely useful to me when I need a medium strength ball to move left with, but I need something stronger than my Venom Shock Pearl. With so many sponge balls on the market these days, they suck the oil off the lanes really quickly and you need to have something to go to in game 2 when the shot breaks down so fast. The ball also is a great go-to right from the start if your bowling center doesn't put out a very heavy oil condition. Also, I shined mine up even more (because I'm super greedy!) and i get even more length and flip with awesome drive in the backend.

Here's my video review for the Ripcord to see for yourself:

Motiv Ripcord Review

The Ripcord is MOTIVs new mid level angular piece in the line up. I drilled mine with a little stronger layout and went 65x4x60. This let me play a little straighter or move in and open up the lanes if I had to with it. The ball really tells me what’s going on with the lanes and where I need to be playing them. The 4’ pin layout helps make the ball controllable off the break point while the cover of the Ripcord still lets the ball be super clean through the fronts and retain a ton of energy for me. Overall the Ripcord is a great piece for medium to heavy patterns it creates the perfect amount of length and hook that will let you free up your swing, open up your angles when you have to, and give you tons of room. Also if you loved the Paranoia lineup you’ll probably love this ball as it brings back the Oblivion weight block used in the Paranoia series.

What do you get when you combine my favorite core from motiv "the oblivion" and put a brand new cover on it? A ball I will absolutely love.
This ball gets plenty of length and has some bigtime backends. My first 3 games out of the box were 238/258/268 a nice set with never have throwing this ball at all. I'm in love with this ball!

The Ripcord is a very angular ball. You will never doubt yourself when you have to play deep inside when lane conditions allow you to play in. You will find a lot of multiple lines to be played with this ball. Since this ball is a pearl, you are going to get through the front part of the lane with ease and then you have the snap on the backend that will leave your competition shacking their heads. For me this ball shines on a broken down pattern when the Rogue Assassin or another solid piece starts to burn up too quick at the break point and just doesn't have the continuation through the pins to knock out the corners.
The Rip Cord has an RG of 2.53 and a DIFF of .047
It has the OBLIVION core that was in the PARANOIA and LETHAL PARANOIA.
The ball uses the INFUSION REACTIVE cover stock and is at 5,000 LSP.

The Motiv Ripcord features the all new Infusion Reactive cover and the Oblivion core from the Paranoia series. The combination of this cover and core has allowed for a true skid flip motion. I have found that the Ripcord allows me to really open my angles up as games go on through a session, but without losing hitting power. The Ripcord is very responsive to down lane friction and I have found a great spot in the bag for it after my Rogue Assassin. I can start with the Assassin and when the angle becomes too steep for the Assassin, I can go straight to the Ripcord and continue striking. Do yourself a favor and add a Ripcord to the bag!
