COMMENTS
Likes: The Venom Strike is an exceptional piece of equipment for those looking for the ultimate in control and predictability. It features the original Gear core which was first used in the GT1. This core design is low RG (2.48) and medium-low differential (0.034). I really liked the ball motion that the Thrash offered, but with my speed it was easy to over throw that piece and not get enough drive through the pins. The Venom for me is that same exact motion, but it is a touch earlier and gives me the look that my eye likes to see. I especially enjoyed throwing the Venom on shorter patterns such as Kegel Broadway and PBA Viper/Cheetah. It really blends the backend out for me and makes the transition much easier to follow.
Dislikes: The Venom will struggle when attempting to move deeper on the lane and chase the oil. It does not have enough differential to kick the corners out consistently from inside angles. The coverstock on the Venom is a modified version of Atomix and I do believe that it can't tolerate a lot of volume.
I think heavy handed players will really come to appreciate this release from MOTIV as it blends the lane out front to back and side to side exceptionally well. Additonally, if you're a speed dominant bowler or just prefer to stand on top of the pattern longer and keep your angles shut down, then you'll really like what the Venom has to offer.
