I've always been a pretty big fan of the Octane and every quadfire core I've ever thrown, so I don't think it's overly surprising that I found a place for this ball in my bag.
Overall, it's smoother than I expected, but that also could be the layout (4.5x35). Don't let that confuse you though, because it's still really really clean.
I think balls like this are easy to overlook because they aren't ALWAYS in play, and this ball has a tendency to really shine late in a block when you need to meet the following conditions:
Clean
Not super fast response
Gear core too small to go through the pins properly
I find these conditions often when I'm forced left on both house, and sport shots, and I've also found that when I'm forced into gutter lofting territory with the Jackal Flash, I can ball down, move about 7 right, and throw this one instead. As someone that sucks at lofting as a whole, this is a great thing to have in the bag for later in long blocks.
On the right side, I don't see this being overly useful on the fresh without a good bit of surface, but my advice is to keep it shiny and use it when it's at its best: the burn!
