Initial Impressions of the Primal TV4
« on: March 16, 2011, 05:45:51 PM »
Punched up a Primal TV4 - Layout 3 1/4 x 2 1/8cg with the pin 3 1/2 above mid line and threw it OOB.  Chose this layout because I wanted length but controlled backend.

Condition was med-heavy with some friction between  5-10 with light hang 5 out.  The ball let me pleasantly stay in the friction a lot longer than expected.  It cleared easily with very good mid lane, finish and good hitting power.  I did see exactly what Scott wrote on the article http://ballreviews.com/bowling/equipment_boards/motiv/primal_intent__a_mu/2/113/273585/1/forumreplies.aspx  As I tried to increase turn, the ball loped a little more which pushed it downlane a little more causing for a later response.  When I eased up and just rolled it, it was pretty nice.  Best way I can describe this is when we used to load up plastic/urethane balls with 2+ ozs of pos side weight and the balls would just lope a ton, roll it so the imbalance can take over and they hooked very well.

I threw about 4-5 games with it before I couldn't use it anymore plus I ran out of gas (9 games, 3 one day and 6 the next).  I just started back bowling after rotator surgery in June with about 15gms in league now so I also have no bowling stamina.  First 3 games were 222, 201 and then eased up for a nice 248 (with a 7 & 9 pin), could've been more.  So far I like the piece a lot, haven't tried Motiv before but like what I see so far.  Will post exactly why on another topic.  Thanks to Mr Spangler for the piece and if there's anything I can do to help, feel free to ask.
