2 ball aresnal... Rebel tank and venom shock
« on: March 06, 2017, 12:55:31 PM »
Looking to create a 2 ball aresnal for a 2 hander. No spare plastic ball, dry lanes to medium lanes...

Thinking venom shock and rebel tank. Thoughts?

Assuming 2-hander is synonymous with high rev 2-hander....seems like a pretty good idea for a two ball bag.
Current bag:
DV8 Turmoil 2 Pearl
Radical Squatch hybrid
Motiv Forza GT
Hammer Black Widow Gold
DV8 Vandal
DV8 Creed Rebellion

To be honest, the Venom Shock is a pretty strong ball.  It is also an early rolling ball.  This two ball arsenal has two early rolling balls that will cause issues when the heads start to go.

I will always recommend the Venom Shock, especially for a two-hander on the lanes in question.  I would probably recommend an Ascent Apex over the Rebel Tank. The Ascent Apex is pretty weak and will get through the heads so much better than the Rebel Tank.

The Rebel Tank is a great ball for when the shot has oil in the heads and is short, not just dry.  Not saying you can't be successful on your shot with it, but in general, it is a niche ball and I wouldn't use it in a two ball arsenal.

Thanks for the comment, that is awesome help.

Your saying a 2 ball arsenal would be venom shock and ascent apex.

What about 3 ball arsenal?  2 balls and a spare ball.  What would your suggestions be then, any different?

Based on the limited information, I would probably suggest the same.  Your shot is quoted as light-medium.

I will give you an idea of what I confront:

I am right handed with 400+ rpm and 18+ mph.
For me, the Shock is the first ball of the night.  It is great on my fresh THS and blends the over/under quite well.  However, with the traffic I see in my THS, the Shock starts to burn up early.  With my cover 3000 to 4000 grit, the Shock can struggle getting real deep.  For me, anything inside 20 is too deep for the ball.  I could polish it and get a better reaction, but then I might lose some of the early success I get on the fresh.

What may dictate which ball I go to next is when this occurs.  Do I get too deep in the 3rd game or is it the beginning of the 2nd game.  If it is the 3rd game, I would be tempted to get a Venom Cobra.  The Cobra is a little bit weaker than the Shock and gets through the heads much better.  I won't be able to jump way to the right, but if it is for at most a game, it won't require a leap of faith to jump to.

If the Shock is too much in game 2, then that may require a ball weaker than the Cobra since I have to stay with it longer.  This is where balls like the Tag and Ascent Apex fall.  Many bowlers like the Tag, but to me, the cover is difficult to pin down.  The sweet spot is hard to find and when you do find it, it can go quickly.  Great ball for when it matches up though.  The Apex is a little weaker than the Tag, but much more predictable.  That is why I mentioned it.

If you were to bowl on more varied conditions, then I might recommend something different.  But since your normal shot is already light-medium, not sure it would change much with or without a spare ball.  If it was medium-medium/heavy then a combination of Paranoia and Cobra could work.

Thanks for the info,  that's awesome... Yet again

I do bowl in a light-medium house on Monday's and medium on Thursdays. I don't exactly know there length but I can ask.

I like the idea of the shock. It's seems as if it's an awesome ball.  Would you be able to start out with a ball like that from game 1. Or would it be too powerful?

I would assume with the ascent being weaker I would move significantly right.  What would the reaction of the ball look like with it being a weaker ball and  the oil being pushed down lane. Strong enough to make the corner?

Seems as if the colors are different I'm the ascent apex.  Pink and green vs blue.  They react differently  from what  is.  Is that correct?
