I noticed how staffers keep comparing the new Alpha Jackal to the Jackal Ghost. Somehow, the Jackal Rising does not get mentioned very much anymore. What is it with Alpha Jackal that improves upon the Jackal Rising? I have the Jackal Rising which works decent but it needs both heavy oil and lots of surface (800 grit and lower) to give me good look. Does the Rising fall short of greatness of the Ghost and the Alpha?

I find the Jackal Rising to be a disappointment of a bowling ball. It doesn't seem to handle much oil unless you have a lot of surface, then lane shines quickly and dies. And if that isn't irritating enough, it also manages to both burn up the heads while carrying oil down into the break point.

Just my opinion, your results may vary.

Not just your opinion; I have a very a similar experience. The Rising does not know if it wants to be a heavy oil ball or be long and strong ball and ends up being in that weird position where it lacks personality. I do find moderate to heavier sport patterns to benefit this ball the most when you want a little midlane control and smooth backend pop. Should I use the Trident Abyss for oil if I need more traction?

The cover on the Abyss is on the Alpha. From what I've seen, the Jackal core is more versatile. When I tested the Alpha, I couldn't imagine needing more traction with good shape. The Abyss just doesn't look like it shapes as well
