Primal Rage question
« on: April 16, 2014, 04:43:14 PM »
Of Course it is a questionnaire to proshops and a few others as to what ball wins ball of the year, but I noticed this survey states the primal rage was up there In the listings. I personally have never thrown a motiv ball and not to many people around me move away from storm, ebonite international, or Brunswick. I want to throw the Primal rage just due to its success last year but I am not sure. I was thinking about supplying them in the Pro shop but I want to give it a try first. Send me a message, if any of you staffer or other proshops can supply me with more information. Thanks Guys

The Primal Rage may be the best reacting ball I've EVER seen, and I've been in the business almost a decade.  It feels like cheating.  I don't think you can get a better combination of power and control in a ball.  It glides through the heads, while still revving and being extremely stable in the midlane, and then delivers about the hardest arc I've seen.  This ball is also extremely versatile, it covers an insanely wide range of lane conditions and bowler styles.  I drilled one for a buddy of mine whose specs are 18 mph 500 rpm, to be his "benchmark" ball basically.  It's the only ball he's thrown all year.  He can still really get a handful of it at the bottom without being worried about it getting through the heads, and he can project it with confidence because it still has teeth in the soup in the middle of a house shot or heavier house pattern OR sport pattern.  No coincidence that Jake Peters won a title on the 50 foot Badger pattern using this ball, which is insane to think about a pearl doing that well on a long, heavy pattern.

On the other side of things, I drilled one for my wife as well, whose specs are 14 mph, 300 rpm to give her a ball with more power.  Also not a coincidence that she used it all year, it glides through the heads, revs up and hits hard.  The backend transition is so clean and powerful that there's no loss of energy.  It's more power with more control for crankers, and more power for the bowlers that don't have the speed and revs.

I agree with Gizmo. Drilled a Primal Rage 3 months ago & it was my first Motiv ball. Absolute monster! Soon after, I punched up a Sting. I think the Sting could throw its name in the ring for ball of the year as well. Both balls work together & are very versatile. I also have a Revolt on the way. Past few months, I have drilled up 4 Primal Rages & 3 Stings for others. Doesn't sound like a ton, but our shop is a small / part-time shop. Had not sold a Motiv nugget to anyone before people saw my Primal Rage. Sold more Motiv than I have any other company lately.

If I were you, I would at least drill one for yourself. Once people see the ball produce, I think you will be able to sell even more. Customers today want to see a ball before they spend $200+ & not just go off the same old marketing scheme of "This ball is the greatest, hooks the most, etc.....". I am not a staffer either. Just a part-time shop guy who keeps learning as much as possible & helping others out. I didn't think I could be swayed away from DV8, but since I have started throwing Motiv, I have not touched anything else. Let us know what you do & how it works out for you.

This ball keeps drawing me in.  I bought a iQ Fusion right when it came out and still love it, but I think I may be getting this piece for next season.

Would the #redball fit above a Fusion? Both at factory finish.

I am also located in a smaller market. In my Pro Shop, Motiv is my number 2 selling Company behind Storm. I personally have not thrown many Motiv balls as I usually stick to one or two balls once I find one I like and end up throwing them all season. I do have one of my employees who strictly throws Motiv and I have to say that I am very impressed with the Quality, reaction, the ease of adjusting cover stocks on there products. Of all there products available, the Sigma Sting has my attention. Everyone that is throwing them absolutely loves that ball. I will drill mine up after winter league and use during my summer practice. (I will be drilling a Venom Shock too.)  I have also talked with Dan Wilbur at Motiv and have nothing but quality customer service.

Possibly . . I think the Rage is actually a better Fusion.  Where I've seen the Fusion be late, flat or a bit squirty at times or on bad deliveries, the Rage transitions better on the backend, which makes it stronger and more continuous.  I don't want to say it's necessarily sharper, because it's an extremely hard arc, but it has a more defined change of direction than the Fusion.  I wouldn't say it's more aggressive, maybe a board or two as far as overall hook, but I think you'd feel more comfortable throwing the Rage than the Fusion.  The Fusion is an EXCELLENT ball, but the Rage is just better.  Hard to imagine, but it is.

Well I'd hate to have TWO amazing balls in my bag  8)

I do have the Fusion with a smoother drill, so maybe I'll get the Rage and drill to be long and strong as hell.

I personally am looking into getting the ball but I am stuck in the mud. I do not know if I should invest in the equipment and give it a shot or not. Does anyone have any old ones? Send me a message if you do. Thanks
