Ascent Solid Week 1 Review
« on: October 05, 2012, 10:12:52 AM »
Hello all, I wanted to give my week 1 review of the Ascent Solid that I have thrown this past week during the 3 leagues I bowled in. First off lett me say that when I purchased the Ascent Solid I was looking for a ball to blend the over/under that i have experianced too frequently this season so far and I was really looking for something that reminded of my favorite ball of all time the Insite Almighty. THe ascent solid was everything I was looking for and then some. My first league night was a bit of a test to see what I could and couldnt get away with. Game 1 was a solid 224 a few mistakes on my part but hey, i will take 224 every night! Game 2 however was a diferent story, a very nice 277! I was crushing the pocket with ease and consistency and carry was superb. I missed one shot wide that missed the headpin. Game 3 was a big dissapointment, carry was off, missed spares, two splits for a crappy 160. I was stubborn and refused to get deep and change balls but hey, i had just rolled 277, why change balls? I will take 660 any night along with a 277 game, nothing better than rolling a ton of strikes in one game!

Night 2 was a bit frustrating. Carry was dismal and my shot making was poor. However, I did manage to squeek out a 198-201-225 for a respectable 624 series. I learned from my mistake the night before and got deep and changed over to my Midnight Vibe the last game for a nice 225.

Night 3 was more consistent. Game 1 was a nice 241, a few pitch outs on my part , otherwise a nice game. Game 2 was a bit of a struggle with two opens but a nice finish for a 213. Game three started with a high hit and spare and then I changed balls again and went deep with my midnight vibe for 223 game.

The first week of bowling was pretty solid with this ball with a couple highs and lows but I am most pleased as this has been my best week of bowling thus far. Average doesnt mean a whole lot to me, I just like rolling the big games and sets and whatever happens in between happens, I cant roll great scores all the time. Take the bad with the good!
