Current Venom Shock verses original Venom Shock
« on: March 02, 2024, 02:18:57 PM »
Motiv players. Have a question for my son. He has one of the original Venom Shock balls from 2014. He really likes the ball. But, would like to add an additional ball from Motiv to his bag. I have two questions. First, how different is the current Venom Shock to the original in ball reaction? Second, how much different is the reaction of the Venom Shock to the Primal Shock? Thanks for your help.

My oldest shock is a 2017, not anywhere near 2024 pour, but they really haven’t changed much over the years. I do recall when the Shock first came out it was a bit rolly but I really think patterns have come up in volume and that’s why the Shock these days feels pretty quick downlane.

The primal shock is interesting, the high rg core really floats it down lane but it flares a ton and when it sees the lanes right, it is so strong, and can create some really incredible angle.

I usually have the primal a few boards stronger and it being much sharper when it changes direction compared to the venom. This difference has me not often bagging the primal on sport patterns, where the venom shock I still take and use it on dang near everything.

Motiv swears that they have not changed the Venom Shock but you only need look at the covers to see that they’re different. More likely is they changed polymer vendors or the vendors altered the polymer formula (possibly due to federal laws concerning VOCs and the like) but the new Venom Shocks are stronger than the originals.  The new ones also lack the word Shock below Venom.
