Thinking about QZ1
« on: February 24, 2010, 06:00:37 AM »
Really thinking about one of these to fill a hole in my arsenal. Looking for something to go above my pin up 505a for a smoother, more controllable break off the dry, and also want a tad bit earlier roll.

So, wondering what people thought about theirs and how they react. Leaning towards the purple, but seems to me that more people have the red. What do you think about the differences between the two?

Thanks in advance.

Imho, your on the right track with the purple QZ1 to fill your gap. The difference between the 2 QZ's are the cover prep. The purple is 1000 plus polish and the red is 2000 then polish.  Everyone loves the red because it has great back end reaction.

I actually hit my Purple with 1000 abralon pad to take the polish off and have a more distinct difference between the 2 balls.  I can use the 2 QZ's on most typical house shots.  My purple is pin down and the red is pin up.  Hope this helps

The Red QZ1 is an amazing ball... Very smooth and controllable ball. I have mine with pin up above the ring finger and it has nice length with a controllable reaction in the back end to the pocket. Excellent ball.

QZ1 red has some backend if you play it right on the dry. Too much speed will make it come back short since it's best to use on lighter oil.

go to throw it the last game of my league today once the mission and invasion were too much.. I can say that this thing is definately stronger then I thought it would be. If I missed out to the dry too soon it came screaming back through the nose, if I tugged into the oil though it held the line beautifully and finished very strong. Shots on target had some of the wildest pin action i've ever seen, especially out of a piece that was meant for dry conditions. I may have to take this guy to 4000 and see how I like it. I will give it another set as this was my first outing with it, and I have to give myself time to get used to the ball motion. 225 with it out of the box on a torched shot with carrydown... not bad for the first game. Missed a spare and split trying to get used to the ball.. without those two boo boos it would have been a big game. I'll give a more formal update shortly...
