Your next skid/flip ball is here!

Ripcord Launch

Your next skid flip ball is here because Motiv has released the new Ripcord Launch! This medium oil angular ball features the Propulsion MVP Pearl which provides plenty of length and a fast response to the friction on the back.  The core is the Torx V2 which is a moderate RG & differential giving us power shape and angular motion.  Another bonus is I feel I can manipulate my release to make this ball really fast or come up the back and get a little smoother reaction.  This ball is a must and you will want this in both your league and tournament bag!

I am not impressed with this ball so far. I was excited about the core as I loved it in other balls, but in this one, it doesn't do much at all.

For me, on a house shot, it's all skid and no flip. Throw it out to the friction, it just slides and doesn't recover enough to get to the pocket. Move inside, it has an amazing knack for finding the 3/6 pocket when other balls have no issues.

So far, this one has been a dud for me. I will change the surface and give it another try.

Box finish has been a mixed bag for the ones we’ve drilled for people in my area. For me, my two hooked enough at box, that I only knocked the shine off with 3000 to give a little more separation between them as the layouts were a bit too similar. I find mine as an angular counterpart to my shock. We’ve had to hit a couple of them with 2000 grit to get them to slow down for locals, but the house pattern admittedly has a big puddle in the middle and shiny pearls never look that great.

Used a Tru Cut 3000K pad on the ball and it made a huge difference. I should have known as Motiv has the worst factory finish consistancy in the industry.

Going to pick up my Jackyl Ambush today. I think I will change the finish before I ever throw it.

I'd recommend if you want to use it on anything besides a tournament pattern, the Ambush has a very aggressive cover with a very aggressive OOB finish. Even at 4000 grit mine is a good bit earlier than the ghost (drilled both the same way at the same time).

Yep, it's sitting hear in front of me now. So dull it pretty much absorbs light

The Launch is so shiny and it’s cleaner than the Velocity but I see about three more boards of backend compared the Velocity. Overall, it’s a very nice ball.

The Launch has plenty of back end for me with the factory polish. It's definitely more skid/flip than the Velocity and even the Empire. I mainly bought the ball based on looks, but it's been seeing plenty of action.
