Motiv Polish on a Trident
« on: December 04, 2017, 03:46:09 PM »
I seem to be struggling with the reaction I'm getting from my Trident.  I have not had success with the last couple asymmetrical, heavy oil balls that I've had.  Maybe I just don't match up with asymmetrical equipment.  I decided to try another one with the Trident.  I bought it to be a ball I could move in with and still get good recovery down lane.  It seems to really want to labor on the back end.  My best guess is that it's burning up and has nothing left by the time it gets to the break-point.  My question is this: Has anyone polished their Trident, and if so, did it help or hurt? I only have 2 games on it and didn't want to make surface adjustments without first-hand input.  Thanks in advance.

The ones I've seen with polish are much stronger off the spot. Try it and see.

I polished my Trident and it became a house shot monster. It was a very good ball for flatter condtions(PBA Patterns) with a 1500/2K finish, but was way too much for a regular house shot.

I polished over the 2K and it's a carry machine for me. It's still not a ball I can "get left" with though, but I have the Paranoia for that anyway.

5500 LSP on mine with the Motiv gloss and I've used Ebonite's Factory Finish on it too. Be prepared for a whole lotta backend.

On a side note, I would recommend something other than Motiv's own polish.  I like and use a lot of Motiv equipment, but for me and many others, their polish is not as good as other big name polishes.

Their Motiv Gel Scuff is great though.

I agree, I use PowerHouse Factory Finish. The Motiv Gel Polish doesn't seem to do much.

There are two Motiv polishes.

Motiv Power Gel Polish.  http://www.motivbowling.com/products/accessories/polishes/power-gel-polish-16-oz.html

Motiv Power Gel Gloss rated at 5500 LSP.  http://www.motivbowling.com/products/accessories/polishes/power-gel-gloss-32-oz.html  Gloss MPGG has a finer particulate than MPGP.

MPGP reminds me of the original Legends Polish.

This seems a bit misleading.  I assume there are instructions on the bottle to achieve 5500 LSS.

Did not know Motiv introduced a new polish.  However, 32 ounces is a bit much to get just to try.

I have used motivs power gel & it works great for me. causes a great backend regardless of what ball you use it on.
