Title: Jackal Sapphire
Post by: ThomasBowling on March 17, 2016, 08:19:24 AM
I asked Tore Torgersen if he could get that ball, he told me that he probably could once it's been released.
I thought it had been released. Is it or not?

Googling it results in many japanese links. Is the Sapphire only released in Asia?

Jackal Sapphire and Jackal Pro are both legal and overseas release. It may be wise for Motiv to release them stateside or do a different version of those balls since they are legal.

Do they have the same core as the Jackal and the Carnage?

So, the Sapphire isn't possible for me to get via Tore?

You should be able to throw them. But finding them may be a whole different situation.

Do they have the same core as the Jackal and the Carnage?

It appears to:

It will be interesting to see if these also end up on the "banned" list.

Same core shape can have drastically different densities which lead to different differentials.

Look at the Centaur core from Visionary. Same basic core shape went from anywhere with a .015 diff in the original Blue Green Centaur to a .080 diff in the Immortals. In between, AMB Centaurs had diffs of .056 and the Ogres were around .032.

According to the specs on there, the diff is 0.60 on it too. So I won't get it because of that, just in case.
Motiv really should leave themselfs a margine of error, in case shit like this happens.
Other comapnies stop at 0.58.

If the core is the same and the specs (RG Diff = .060") are the same, I do not see how the USBC can not ban these 2 balls also. To my eyes, as things stand right now, it would irrational and illogical not to ban any balls with that exact core.

My guess would be they just haven't gotten a hold of them to test them yet

One ball*
It's just the regular Jackal that has a Sapphire version.

That would be my guess as well. USBC can't just go to the local pro shop or distributor and pick up a case for testing.

Why not?
That seems the most logical way to get a truly random set of test objects. But, God forbid, they'd actually have to pay for it out of the USBC budget.

I think they are implying USBC just can't go get the other Jackals because they are an overseas product, not a USA release. So there are few/none in domestic shops and warehouses.
