Jackal Surface
« on: March 30, 2015, 07:02:19 AM »
I am looking to make the Jackal a little more usable for me. Right now (OOB surface 3000), it really has to be very oily or it is too strong. FYI - long pin-pap of ~ 5" above bridge, MB only kicked an inch from thumb (50 x 5 x 40ish)- works best on an inside line if I can find enough oil.

My concern would be that polishing would give me too much over / under sensitivity. I do like my Sigma Sting (OOB surface 5000?) - Should I try to go to 5000 without polish for the Jackal?

Thanks!

5000 isn't too far from being polish.  Best thing to do is go up from 3000 to 4000, then try it.  Then go to 5000 (if you have a 5000 pad) and see if you like it.  It is all about experimentation.  You can also use a used 4000 pad to simulate a near 5000 surface.

If you need to go the route of polish, remember the underlying grit plays into how the surface will react.  If you have 1000 under the polish it will be different than if you have 4000 under the polish.
