Medium Longish and Strong
« on: October 20, 2014, 02:35:40 PM »
Hi all, I am looking for a medium/strong symmetric core ball that is clean and angular, but not too jumpy.

I have heavier covered and I already have a medium/strong control ball - Brunswick Meanstreak Beatdown - pin below ring finger, no hole.  Super smooth and controlled for wet/dry, but sometimes (carrydown?) not enough finish power or recovery otherwise.  Looking to get something with more finish for these situations.

What Motiv ball (likely drilled pin up for stronger backend)  fits the "medium/strong, clean with good backend" better?

Primal Rage or Sigma Sting?  Octane sounds too extreme skid/flip for me.

P.S. - I am a lefty with med/low matched speed and revs.
MOTIV Jackal LE .................40 x 4.5 x 40 p2.5
MOTIV Revolt Vengeance......45 x 4.0 x 50 p3
MOTIV Forza GT ..................50 x 4.0 x 70 p2.5
MOTIV Sigma Sting..............50 x 4.0 x 45 p3

I feel what you are looking for is the Primal Rage.  It will provide you with a bit more angularity.  If you have problems with the ball picking up roll soon enough, you can adjust the cover.  The coverstock is the same on both balls, just a different prep.

I loved my primal rage box finish. It fit the bill for exactly what you want. I recently have been playing with the surface to try to smooth out he reaction a little. I have found that the ball doesn't carry very well with a sanded surface or after the polish starts to wear off. It is a beast at 500 plus polish though. Exactly what I was looking for and has amazing carry thanks to the polish

The description of what you're looking for is almost exactly how I would describe the Primal Rage. The Sigma Sting is more of a benchmark type reaction for me due to the lower rg, earlier rolling core. Best of luck!

Thank you, it looks like I have it narrowed down to Primal Rage vs Storm Optimus.

Thank you, it looks like I have it narrowed down to Primal Rage vs Storm Optimus.

If you are also considering the Storm Optimus, I feel it will be a little earlier than the Primal Rage.  The Optimus would probably be in between the Primal Rage and Sting in shape, but just as strong or stronger than the Primal Rage.
