The Tank Rampage is the new urethane ball in the Motiv lineup. I had the chance to try this ball and it is definitely the strongest urethane ball I have ever tried.

On our fresh house shot pattern, I was able to play up the boards and the ball always had a smooth and controlled reaction when it hit the friction. I saw more recovery with this ball than with the original Tank, misses outside still made the move back to the pocket, while misses inside had enough hold to not go sideways.

Being a low rev bowler, urethane balls have always being condition specific balls for me and I have to be really accurate to hit the pocket. While this ball is still urethane, meaning that it doesn't move as much as a reactive resin ball, the Tank Rampage is more forgiving than the previous two releases due to the strong Alchemy coverstock, but it still has that smooth, early and slow transition that urethane offers.

This is definitely not the ball to use when you want to open up your angles, specially if you are a low rev or a speed dominant bowler, but if you want to play up the boards or straighter, then this is a really good option to consider.

I see myself using this ball for when there is too much over/under and I want to control the backend or when everything else in my bag hooks too early or too much.

I also had the chance to try this ball on the WTBA Stockholm pattern. This short pattern (34') has been always tricky for me. If play too far out the ball doesn't recover, if I play a little inside my mark the ball go sideways... The Tank Rampage provided me a great look from different angles. I could play outside 5 and the ball had enough recovery to make it back to the pocket and when I missed inside 5 the ball never overreacted.

For me, urethane balls are perfect for this kind of short patterns (Sydney, Wolf, Stockholm) since you have a lot of friction, you need to control the backend and have a smoother reaction, and this ball definitely fits the bill.

I think this ball is a must for any tournament bowler. The Tank Rampage will be really helpful on this kind of patterns or when you bowl a lot of games in tournaments and start seeing too much friction to use reactive resin balls.

Overall, I feel that this ball is way more versatile than every other urethane I have ever tried. The strong coverstock gives me a bigger margin of error, while still provides a smooth, early and controlled shape. This ball can be used on different conditions and will fit a lot of different bowling styles.
