Someone familiar with Motiv. If I was to throw together a Motiv bag for fun, say 3-4 balls, no urethane. Which from the currently available line-up should I choose to set a good impression? Those can't miss, must tries, etc, etc.

 

From what I’ve seen, only the venom line has been well regarded by the non-motiv fanboy club. Everything else has been hit or miss

I see a lot of Motiv a one of the houses I bow at. If the Venom Shock is a lock, I would go:

Rogue Blade
Venom Shock
Venom Cobra

If the Golden Jackal does what it looks like it should do then that would be what I'd have on top. That would be a fun and pretty safe Motiv bag in my estimation.

The Hydra is a pretty good ball. It's basically a Tag Cannon, and that's really nice. If you want to go that route it would be a good replacement for the Cobra in the list I mentioned above.

For what it's worth I really like Motiv's mid and mid-low range stuff. It's all easily enough for the middling volume house shots many see. You might have to get left with it on a summer league on wood lanes, but I don't think the reaction of those balls should be an issue.

Probably want to leave out the Golden Jackal though. Don't think that would be needed unless the shot is something unexpected.

If I’m building an Arsenal with only 3-4 pieces the. i would pick:

- Forge (Strong symmetrical, Solid, more than enough ball for medium and heavy oil conditions)
- Golden Jackal (Pearl, Asymmetrical, not a skid flop, but it provides with good length and a strong backend reaction, good complement to the Forge)
- Venom Shock (I don’t even going to describe this one)
- Hydra (Pearl, Symmetrical, nice step down from the Venom Shock, cleaner, weaker and more angular)
