First of all, I have to say that every time a Jackal gets released, I get excited. Fortunately, the Jackal Flash is what I expected to be and maybe a little bit more.
We tried this ball on our freshly oiled house shot pattern and the ball does exactly as advertised. The Jackal Flash is very clean through the front part of the lane, with a strong, angular backend motion.
The Jackal Flash is an easy ball to read. It took me a couple of shots to realize that I needed to play deeper than usual since the combination of core and coverstock is quite strong to play around my comfort zone. Once I got lined up and found the breakpoint, I got really, really comfortable with this ball.
As you can see on the video review, the Jackal Flash allowed me to open up my angles and to play different part of the lanes successfully. It is definitely a versatile piece. Misses outside offered a lot of recovery, I just had to make sure to not miss outside too soon. Misses inside were almost as effective as misses inside. The Infusion HV pearl coverstock digs through the oil and it has a fast response as soon as it finds some friction.
This ball will be a great option when you need to create more shape down the lane in medium and heavy oil conditions and when angular balls like the Trident Nemesis or the Ripcord are not strong enough. The Jackal Flash will be a great step down from balls like the Alpha Jackal or the Jackal Ghost.
Compared to the Golden Jackal, this ball is cleaner and more angular, the Golden Jackal is earlier and smoother, while the Jackal Flash provides a stronger shape at the backend.
Overall, I feel this is a great addition to the Motiv lineup. This is by far the most angular piece in the Jackal line and it provides a shape that Motiv was lacking of on heavier volumes of oil.
Low speed and low rev bowlers will love this ball. The Jackal Flash provides easy length and a strong downlane motion. High speed and high rev bowlers will be able to play from almost any part of the lane without sacrificing carry even from steeper angles. Tournament bowlers will find in the Jackal Flash a great piece for the transition in flat patterns and sport shot conditions and a great complement to the rest of the Jackal line.
Thank you for watching!
