Just to try something different this year I wanted to try something different.  I have been throwing mainly Rotogrip/Storm lately and have really been happy with the RG that I have been using.

That being said, a nephew throws Motiv and said the Primal Rage is a "must have" if you throw Motiv.  Well luck would have it that I won a ball in a raffle and it is the Tribal Fire.  I love the way it rolls.  However it rolls much earlier at the house I bowl my leagues.  Pin is to the right of the ring and the cg under the ring.  Was thinking of changing the layout, but I hate doing that.  Took it to another house to bowl a sweeper there and the ball did get down lane pretty easily.  I am a medium speed, lower rev up the back "old guy".

I will say this ball is much stronger than expected.  I have an IQ Tour Solid and this seems to be much stronger than that.  Not bad for a "med/light oil ball".  Very impressed.  Now a little concerned with this being that strong if a Primal Rage would be a good addition or not?

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks Matt.  I agree with your comments.  With the Tribal Fire being as strong as it is...I'm almost afraid to try something "stronger"!!  As you said that TF is stronger than what one would think a "Med-Light" ball would be.  Not complaining at all!  Actually very excited to consider my next Motiv ball(s)!!  Like you said, I can easily see myself being a "Motiv" guy before long.  I have started seeing more and more Venom Shocks on the local ball returns. 

Per my nephews recommendation I do want to try the Primal Rage...then I would imagine something underneath like one of the Ascents.   Do you think that would make a decent 3 ball arsenal?

The only thing I am fighting now is the early hook (at our house) and making the right moves for this shot shape.  Just a little different than what I'm used to.  So I have been starting out good, but fight transition and those game scores go way down.  But with the way the ball rolls and hits for me....I fight putting it down!  LOL

For true "heavy" I have a Hyper Cell, but most conditions I see are too dry for that, but a "nice to have" ball that I got from a buddy who gave it up after just a few games due to injury.

Your idea of Primal Rage, Fire, and one of the Ascents sounds good. The pearls are slightly earlier and slightly weaker overall than the Apex. I'm not sure which you're considering.

Also, when you're ready to replace the Hyper Cell, the Jackal would fit the bill perfectly. Just wanted to throw that in there.

Thanks!  I think I am going to try the Primal Rage next.  See how things look then.  I do have a Tropical Breeze or a Scream for drier conditions for now.  If they all impress like the Tribal Fire, like you said I might be a convert pretty quickly!!  Thanks again!

+1 on the Sigma Sting.  That ball is an absolute must have.  I love the Revolt when there is a little more volume on the fresh.  Next for me would likely be either the Venom Shock/Tribal or possibly the Jackal (there is a house near me with enough oil to throw that).

Matt....so I did get the Primal Rage.  First game off the press I struggled a bit, so put it away after 1 game.  I figured I would practice with it a bit before using it.  I didn't want to sacrifice team points learning something new.  Practiced a bit after league and got a much better feel for it.  Took it to City tourney the next day.  It was on USBC White.  Used the Hyper Cell for a while, but felt the I needed something cleaner through the midland.  Went to the PR and never looked back.  I didn't light it up, but it did very well for me.  The rest of the issue was ME.

Took it to league on Sun morning and it was a beast.  Had my first 700 for the year (coming off a surgery recently...so off to a slow start).  When that thing struck, I would say 80-90% of the strikes were flat out 10 back leaving nothing on the deck.

You are right...Motiv is proving to be very impressive!!!  Right now, so glad I gave it a try!!

The Apex is not close in overall strength to the fire or the PR. Of the two (Pearl and Apex) I would suggest the Apex without a doubt. Typically if a shot is getting too dry, for me anyway, it's because the heads are dry. The Apex gets through that much better without sacrificing angularity off the dry boards in the back. Similar for me in shape to the PR, but much less overall.
