Motiv Octane
« on: May 21, 2014, 01:01:58 AM »
Just browsing bowlersdeals.com and I came across this:
http://www.bowlersdeals.com/motiv-octane-bowling-ball/

It looks like that new red ball might not be the next release coming from Motiv.

Almost more interesting are these two items:
1. Factory finish is 5000 Grit LSS (Laser Scan/Sanded).

2. Premium price for a Quadfire core, that was virtually discontinued 2 years ago or so.

No one can say that Motiv doesn't make very interesting balls!!

Octane will be the first of the two new balls from Motiv released. The Tribal Fire (it's a hybrid) will come after it.

So if a customer wants a factory surface put back on the ball, will I have to buy the laser or send it back to Motiv? Jokes of course  ;D

What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I was hoping for something on the higher end of the scale.  The Revolt isn't quite enough ball, and I don't think there's ever a reason to throw the Talon, lol . .

The core in that ball is the same core as in the Thrash Frenzy which has turned out to be one of my all time favorites. The Thrash Frenzy is the first ball out of my bag and really-really strong on the back end with unbelieveable pin mixing/hitting power.

I have 2 Motiv balls, the Thrash Frenzy and Primal Scream with the Thrash Frenzy reving way more easier as well as having more revs for me than the Primal Scream. Could this be because of the difference in cores?

Not trying to hi-jack the original topic here. My intent here is to point out how well that core works for me. I hope they keep that core. Can't speak for others.

Not sure I need another medium ball, but I love how it looks!

Gizmo- I have a very strong feeling that the hole in the ball chart that was occupied by the 2 Cruel will be filled before the start of the fall season. Should be just what you're looking for.

Meanwhile, the octane is intriguing. I'll own one.

Don't have anything newer than the apex right now. This is total speculation, but based on previous years' releases, and the fact that the 2 cruel has been off the chart for a while, I would say it's a pretty educated guess. And a hope. I'm always excited to see what Motiv cooks up.

Wouldn't that just be a cruel intent????
