Motiv Power Gel
« on: October 30, 2009, 10:51:15 AM »
I wanted to post a comment about our Power Gel products because there were some posts on this site last month that made me believe there is some confusion about them.

There are 3 completely different products: CLEAN, POLISH, and SCUFF.  If you are looking for a straight up ball cleaner, that's Power Gel CLEAN.  It will not alter the surface at all.  It is an incredibly effective cleaner to remove oil, black marks, etc.  Power Gel POLISH is what we use at the factory when we apply a polish to MOTIV equipment.  It is actually both a cleaner and a polish in one.  The third product is Power Gel SCUFF.  This is a ball cleaner with abrasive.  It is great for knocking the polish off a ball or for cleaning sanded equipment.

There is also another unique application for this SCUFF product (patented).  The abrasive is also an amazing absorbent.  You can apply SCUFF to a ball that has been saturated by oil and allow a thick coating to stand until it dries from liquid to powder.  When completely dry, just brush or vacuum it off the ball. Flip and do the other half.  When finished, clean the ball thoroughly with a cleaner to remove all the absorbent powder from the ball surface.

Please understand I'm not trying to use this site to plug the products, I'm just trying to make sure there is no confusion about what Power Gel is.

Interesting... thanks for posting.

I'm currently using the clean as my daily cleaner with really good results, particularly considering the price.

I might have to try the scuff. Does it sand to a particular grit?

yes, I understand. It's hard to beat the price of the power gel products - 16 ounces for around $10.  Regarding the grit level of SCUFF, not sure, sorry.

If I had to guess, I'd say Power Gel SCUFF is probably somewhere around 2000-4000 grit, but again, not 100% on that.

Does the Scuff gives the ball a more sheen/matte but "not so dull" look?
